Okay, I boguth a rear sway bar from MicroImage for my kid's Yaris.

He came up today for his birthday and I went to install it.

There is no existing sway bar?!? Is there supposed to be? The new one comes with mounting hardware for the bar ends but no place to mount it too.

Also no place to attach to frame, no bushings or anything.

I'll call them tomorrow but was hoping to install today.

I am assuming that you purchased either the Ultra Racing 21 or 23mm rear sway bar. Here is a thread to help you out http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14084

There is no existing sway bar, and all that is required are a few bolts included with your purchase.

So it appears that it bolts to the lower control arms only? It doesn't attach to the body anywhere?

I'm used to sway bars that attach to the frame with rubber or nylon bushings and then to the control arms.

Correct.

Correct. one hole is used with the existing shock bolt, and the other hole lines up with the hole provided by Toyota for the sway bar.

It's technically a TORSION BAR, not a sway bar, for our rear beam axle.

And those are rear trailing arms to be precise, not control arms.

Not including a sway bar is one of many ways Toyota made the Yaris more affordable overall. You'll like the difference it makes a lot.

Spork, post up when you've driven it some. Would like to hear your impressions.

I only drove it about a mile yesterday and hadn't really driven the car much before so hard to give any real results.

I live in Wildomar (just north of Temecula) so the kid was going to go home via Ortega Highway last night (he lives in Carlsbad) but it was late, wet and dark so he may not have gone that way.

I'll get his opinion later in the week when he has had a chance to drive it a bit more.

He and his girlfriend (little mid 20's hottie!:thumbsup:) did go for a little drive yesterday right after I put it on and he was pretty happy with it.

We're thinking struts/shocks next. :w00t:

You can't just go stiffer shocks without replacing springs?

When doing the rear (torsion, not sway :biggrin:) bar I saw it has some pretty flimsy coil springs back there. I guess some stiffer ones would help it out.

We don't really want to lower the car and make it a pain to drive over speed bumps and driveways and such.

I'll probably give Cali Yaris a call for advise before we do any more to it.

Sorry, he brought her to our place for the first time this weekend so I don't have any pictures. I'm going to invite them out on the boat when it gets warm and I'll get bikini shots!:thumbsup::wub:

He may have a different girl by then though. He seems to go through them quickly but always manages to bag the hotties. No complaints here!

Crap, now I better not tell him about this site!

After the anti-sway/torsion bar addition, upgrading the dampers will help immensely. I don't think you'll find any stiffer springs with a drop. But adding some more effective shocks will help. MI will have your solution.
