Car Maintenance, Service etc

Hi Friends ,

Greetings for the day,

I Have purchased Yaris Sedan 2008 as my first car before 3 months back,

Since I am new to this (any) car Kindly advice:

* As a Car Maintenance, Service etc..what all should I keep in mind?
* At what Kms I must change Oil ?
* At what Kms / time I must change Oil filter?
* At what Kms / time I must Gear Oil ?
* At what Kms / time I must change anything else pls suggest?

Also, kindly advice what all things I need to take care as a maintenance to run it long,:help:

since you are living in a hot and dusty environment, check your tire pressure so that they arent over inflated, check your AIR FILTER!!!, run 5W-30 synthetic oil.

* At what Kms I must change Oil ?
depends on how hard you push the engine, if its highway or city driving. if its only or mostly citiy driving, replace your synthetic oil every 5000km, if its highway driving you can do 8000km

if you are using regular oil (non synthetic), city driving = 3000km , highway driving =5000km, some members on here may disagree with me on the intervals, but im VERY anal when it comes to oil changes :biggrin:, proof of my OCD over car maintenance is my previous car was a 1995 toyota avalon XLS which had 360,000km before i sold it, engine and transmission were amazing!

* At what Kms / time I must change Oil filter?
every oil change!, use Mobil 1 or AMSOIL filters, DO NOT use Fram filters

* At what Kms / time I must Gear Oil ?
see your service manual for other fluids (brake fluid, coolant, transmission fluid.

Also, kindly advice what all things I need to take care as a maintenance to run it long,:help:
if something breaks, fix it right away!, first thing you should check for is any pink residue around your water pump/ underside of your hood, if you see pink residue = water pump failing = replace it ASAP, you dont have winter there so you shouldnt have the rear ABS problems, check your alternator for weird noises, either the bearing goes bad or the voltage regulator corrodes, but i wouldnt be worried if you live in a hot/dusty/dry climate

Tire pressure = What should be the figure of air pressure on front & rear?

AIR FILTER = which brand do you advice..?

Gear Oil = time frame to change & some good brand?

tire pressure should be 32PSI front and back

for gear oil i would say 2 years or 50 000km and suggest RedLine gl-4 75w-90

for your Oil filter, Mobil 1 oil filters, AMSOIL oil filters or Purolator PureONE filters are the top best in the market, second to those is the dealer filter, stay away from fram filters.

depending on the tire as well, some tires might require a few psi higher then 32, check your tire make and model, if still worried about tire psi , contact the manufacturer of the tire (email or phone call usually) and they will give you a sure answer)..

for gear oil im not 100% sure, i have an automatic, i would only use toyota fluids except for engine oil
