Hey guys

My sister took my car to work and rolled down the windows since it was cold outside. She parked and forgot to roll up the passenger's window and heavy rain got into the car.

the car had a lot of water in it and I tried to vacuum the entire area and its still humid. right now I emptied a can of tough stuff on the upholstery so the car doesnt smell later on.

The water got everywhere including the radio, some of the water got into the front panel and I unplugged it immidiately from the dash and took it out of the car. Are there any guides on disasembling the radio so I can try to get it dry and hope that it works? (its only a bit of moisture on the front panel, the rest of the radio is dry.

Any suggestions are welcome thanks guys

I know for cell phones they tell you to put it in a bowl of white rice. It supposdly draws out the moisture. As far as your car you may have to pull up your carpet if there's any water that's sits in there it'll turn to mold.

I managed to get the repdio out and disassembled it. I removed the front faceplace and used contact cleaner to clean all of the buttons on the radio's board.

Its working like a charm now :)

Is there a gentle way to pull out the carpet? I'm thinking of spending the night drying and cleaning the car in the garage.

I'm sure there's a DIY on how to remove your interior panels and carpet. Good that your radios working.

Ah I won't be free until Saturday to do so :/

For now the radio is working and the floor is dry (the removable floor mats absorbed most of the water but a considerable amount leaked to floor itslef).

Right now the car is in the garage with the fan next to it, will continue to clean little by little until I can get cracking on the floor mats on the weekend.

Another thing that works really well for getting the moisture out of the carpet, etc. is to run a household dehumidifier inside of the car. Set it in the back, run an extension cord into the car and run it overnight for a couple of days.
