Hello all,

I'm brand new here and brand new to Toyota. I recently purchased a 2012 Yaris LE 3 door and absolutely love it.

Unfortunately, within the first few days of owning it, I seem to have scratched the interior of the driver's side door. I was reaching down to lean the seat back a bit when my watch scraped against the door.

I was hoping someone would have some advice as to how I could possibly fix the scratches. They aren't very deep but if there was something I could do to somehow make it look nicer, I'd feel a lot better.

This is my first new car purchase, so I'm a bit new to taking extreme care of a car (as horrible as that may sound.) I want to keep this one in perfect condition.

I've found that Turtle Wax ICE Total Interior Care product does a pretty decent job of masking most of my superficial scratches on interior plastics.

Without seeing a picture, I've had good luck with a blow-dryer at close range (be careful) to eliminate or minimize scratches in hard, textured plastics.

Sfamicom i feel ur pain i used my car this weekend to haul DJ Equipment and i scratched the interior to my rear passenger door.... I'm gonna try the suggestions that the members suggested. Thank u guys!!!

Also, here is a picture - posting one didn't cross my mind. It may seem minimal, but it annoys the crap out of me considering how new the car is.

ICE will clean that one up. That is really, really minor.

I guess it looks much worse in person. Ice didn't help at all. At least I can use it on the rest of the car. Any other suggestions?

From my vantage point it looks like the scratch went through
the top coat of the plastic panel. Right?

Nothing short of color matching dye or paint will work. It looks like the surface of the plastic has been compromised and what you are seeing is damaged or "stretched" plastic.

i believe mothers has something made for the exterior of cars for black triming, its called back to black. you could give that a try as well.

i plan on looking for that for those black plastic panels near the windows, mine has gotten pretty scratched up from god know what.

but anything black, its supposed to fix the appearance of it.

12 Yaris, yes you're right. I'm guessing I'll need some touch up paint.

Yes,to do right purchase an areosol can(Dupli-Color/Dye.)
Do Not use paint,Dye is much thinner and will give you better
results.
Wipe off the entire door panel make sure you remove all the
silicone (such as any greasy products that were appiled).
I use laquer thinner,I wipe twice with a wet lint free towel.
Then mask any areas that you do not want painted,or
oversprayed with dye.
Then wipe off the door panel again with laquer thinner,
because of the oils from your skin.
Let the panel air dry then use a lint free dry towel,and
wipe again or use compressed air from an air compresser.
(Beleave Me Prep Is Everything)!
Then shake aerosol can well,give it a few practice sprays
on something that dosen't much(get your spray technique down).
Then go for it.

Check with Garm at Micro Image, he should have some 2012 interior panels - unless he already sold/used them.

Got the same problem and decided to ignore it. (First scratch hurts, sure thing, relax as mor of them will show.)
