I guess this shouldn't be too much of a surprise. They were either going to get updated or axed in the near future anyway.

Yeah, it was only a matter of time. As it is, it was always Toyota's intention for these models to be continually replaced. The fact that the xB and tC name was used for two generations kind of went against Toyota's plans (I think their original popularity forced them to reuse the designations).
Never understood why the xD never sold more than it did. I though it was a great choice, particularly during it's first 3 years. A lot of standard features, practical, and affordable with bullet proof reliability. I came close to buying it, but ultimately went with the Yaris. Maybe that's the problem?

so will we see a proper bB from Scion/Toyota now? :D
Or more of the Netz lineup in Japan coming here branded as Scion like the iQ...?
They screwed up the xB by making it too big and fat. I think the problem for the xD is that it was just the odd car out, too many other cars that were much more popular for anyone to really pay attention to the xD. If Toyota really wants to stick to their stated intention, the tC should be gone soon.
I agree that they should be switched to the Toyota brand, a bB with the same dimensions and the original xB and a tC called a Celica.
The FR-S will be the sporty option and something funky and unique should be the xB replacement.
It really is amazing though with how much of a hit the tC has been that Toyota hasn't brought out something similar but different enough. The FR-S will be a hit, but I still want something Yaris sized and rwd. Hell throw a 1NZ-FE in the FR-S and drop the price, we've seen how much that engine can really put out.

Guess I better buy a first gen like I wanted before the price goes up on them. Definitely keeping my 2nd gen Release Series. Didn't have any plans on selling it in the first place.

It'd be interesting to see a pickup from Scion. Honda Ridgeline isn't doing so hot, so I'd be surprised to see Scion do something similar. However, I'd love to see how small it is.
someone has been watching CT Scott.

I took these pics this morning in my area. Some of the dealers are modding up the iQ before they sell it --

I could have been on its way to the crusher. They have a 5yr cap on program cars, and that would have been right around that age.

I stopped by my local Scion/Toyota dealer last night and was shocked/jealous to see that the iQ comes in Pearl White! Is the iQ more upscale than the Yaris?
Anyway, too bad there is no manual transmission option for the iQ. ...or maybe that is a good thing since I would start to think about trading in my Yaris...

I reseached the iQ before I bought my Yaris in Jan.,
but the price, lack of room, and performance, it just wasn't for me.
I'm happy with my Yaris, the different color, the subtle mods
I've completed,maybe I'll do more.
I also researched the Fiat 500,I had a '59(I know worlds apart),
but I decided on the Toyota.

That is horrible. I would open my own museum for Toyota, Scion and Lexus project cars. Some of them are worth not crushing.

Tracker's are tough as shit. And they have pretty good gas mileage pending how modded they are.
I think i'd like to see a scion truck though; especially if it was a small 4x4. Like the suzuki jimny.

I would LOVE to have the option to buy another small 4x4 or even a tiny pickup.

A-freakin'-Men on the small pickup. No-one sells one here at all any more.

No fair - that didn't sell at "pickup" prices. More of a baby Explorer "Sport" than a pick'em-up-truck

my point is that a small pickup with a small bed is useless.
more useful are small hatches and wagons, typically

Do not fully agree.
I would never shovel dirt/compost/mulch into the back of a hatch. Much easier to haul long material with a dropped tailgate, then it is with a popped hatch.

Don't agree, sorry.
Would love a pickup that i could drop a few bags of mulch in, rather than having to layer the Yaris with drop-cloths, remember that the seat-back when down is NOT somewhere to drop something heavy, and that really, truly, about 5 bags is IT for the suspension.
Don't want to haul rocks, or 20-stacks of sheetrock, just the occasional dirty load.

The Baja was generally regarded as ugly, too. I didn't hear too many people complain about the looks of a Ford Ranger or Chevy S-10 (or old Toyota Pickup, for that matter).
The Baja was about as far away from a mainstream "pickup" as you could get, too.
I'd still love to see someone come out with a competent compact pickup. Something RWD/4WD, small, and fuel efficient (e.g. 25 MPG or so). I think some manufacturer will have the guts to do it again soon.
In that same vein, no one but Jeep offers a 4x4 with solid front and rear axles for off-road use (not counting HD pickups). I'd think Suzuki could bring over the Jimny and go head to head with Jeep. Then again, Suzuki isn't exactly doing so hot ...

Instead of quoting everyone since before I moved, I'm just gonna start here. I have a Suzuki Samurai which is the Jimny predecessor... I freakin love that thing with all my heart. We've got a Weber Carb on it, lifted a little, larger tires than are meant to be on it, took the back seat out so that nasty stuff (like fish, which I wouldn't want in my Yaris) can easily be thrown in there. The backseat takes all of 4 bolts to reinstall in case you have extra passengers, and it still manages to get 28+ mpg, even when crawling around in 1'st and 2'nd gears. love it love it love it. AND, they cost as much as a decent ATV. Tracker's you can get even cheaper; and they're practically the same vehicle. equally as tough.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFTcyIAo2Kc
Now the Baja I also like; but there's not many in my area. I remember a bunch of guys really being into them when I was young, and something about their undercarriage coming with some armour or covering or something which was neat in its own. Anything made by subaru I assume to be tough as nails anyway though. Why is it people follow el camino's like a hungry bear but dislike the more useful baja's? I've always thought they looked virtually the same.
I will also agree that I've not been terribly impressed with Suzuki as of late.
I really like this thread. :w00t:
you can still get a base tacoma for dirt cheap if you are willing to order it and wait. $16.8k. And it still looks like an old school 80's pickup.
