I just saw my first Versa sedan on the road. It is so much better looking than the hatch. I am not a Nissan guy, but if I had to drive a Nissan, this would be it. Ok, I admit it. I like it. Just dont tell anyone.

I just wish that they kept the concept look instead of changing it ... It was perfect!

Originally called the Sport Concept ...

I would have picked this up if it was kept that way.

This is what transformed into the Versa as we know it today

the looks arent my cup o' tea, but the interior fit and finish is pretty good. i'd always consider a car from honda, nissan and toyota, and the fit, yaris and versa im sure would satisfy all of our automotive needs and more. we went with the yaris cuz the mpg with an automatic is unbelieveable, and my wife actually likes the center dash...

My sister bought the Sedan with smart key etc etc for 17k over the Yaris sedan...she didn';t want the same car as me..but they dont even look the same...

anyway the car is okay, the engine is really quiet, the trunk is huge..but yea again engine is quieter than yaris...

HEY!

JUST KIDDING! I actually agree, its pretty much Nissan's take on the ECHO, which in this case is bad! I like the Versa hatch better, although not the best looking but better than the sedan version, boring!!!

well people are more likely to hop onto the tuning wagon for nissans compared to toyotas. they took the celica out the the line and the supra and mr2.....we dont really have a racing car unlike nissan which has the 350z etc...so chances are, people would much rather take a shot at tuning those rather than a yaris (unless we all lived in japan)

may want to consider checking the reviews the dodge have gotten also mercedes is trying to dump dodge heard a chinese invester was looking to take it off mercedes hands if mercedes will give them enough cash the mazada , volvo c30 an focus are all fords ,share same platform.

it all depends on what u are look for in a auto gd mpg ,dependable good resale , reasonably fun to drive priced to drive with green mpg a green left over to have fun toyota yarrrrrrris most others are in a different $$$$$ by 10,000 are more higer insurance da da da

That Versa sedan looks pretty blah to me. It's like a downsized Sentra... Nissan has, overall, one of my favorite design vocabularies of any manufacturer working today -- the Altima, Maxima, and Titan are all excellent designs for their class -- but their two low end sedans are very bland.

I am a nissan guy an i did not have any interest in either. The sedan is actually news to me. Nissan had the chance to do somethign great with this car and it looks like a half finished product. There has also been a bunch of problems with it. Ive got at least a dozen nissan buddies who have them and had them in for power locks, windows, non starting and a blown motor.

A properly made Versa SE-R looking like that concept would be a very interesting car, especially if based on an SR20...

one can always dream!

That is why tuners may choose the Versa over the Yaris because we havent gottin CRAP for our car...wow some headers, intakes, exhaust, whoopy do da...they make all that stuff for metro geos..

Stock Versas are kinda dull and ugly. But like almost any car out there, just mod it a little and it starts looking better:

here's a decent looking one spotted on car domain.

Why did they took the celica and mr2 and supra out?

To put it simply...sales. They were down and kept going down. Also there isn't much money (profit) to be made in the class of car especially if your a volume car maker. Its mostly an image thing to have a sporty or sports car, not that I don't like them or have anything against it, its just when it comes down to it that's what it is!

exactly. same reason why the integra/rsx, prelude, supra, 300z, 3000gt, rx-7 and all other great japanese sports cars left during the late 90s. no americans wanted to buy them. they bought cheaper mustangs and camaros instead...

Not just in America, in other countries as well (including Japan). Sometimes though if a certain body style is liked so much, they will continue using it for several years even though there is a newer style of the same car out (i.e. Nissan B13 Sentra (91-94) was kept in Mexico until '98. Even though the Nissan S13 fastback bodystyle was discontinued here in the U.S. after '94 (240SX fastback), it continued in Japan until '98 because the sales were good and the bodystyle was liked so much.

Steve, I thought we went over this... don't make me slap you.

The only car ahead of the Yaris from the 2007 model year when it comes to aftermarket support is the Fit. I promise you you'd have a harder time finding parts for the Versa, 3, or anything else than you would a Yaris. Fit owners have it made because its a Honduh, but still, this community actually has done pretty well since I came around.

And don't be too pissed about the Versa getting a turbo... that same company has a Yaris kit, too. If you want it so damn bad, why don't you PM ZPI and buy the thing?!

Plus, the Fit has been around for how long??? I know it was released here in 2003, probably a year before that in Japan... Mazda3 has been out a while too, though not as long. Yaris and Versa are still considered quite new, even though it's been in Japan for a while now, I think we are lucky we can get as many bits and bobs as we can now, and it's only going to get better
