Build thread! '08 Yaris Hatch

Hi, I bought this car back in December of 2011. When I bought it one thing ran through my mind.. how am I going to modify this thing so it looks like mine. Me being a girl afterall needed to add few girly touches to this car; not that the car doesn't look girly enough overall, but I wanted to make it stand out.
It's been fun with this little thing. Here are a few photos I have taken for my build journey!

Okay, enough of the boring stock photos of my car, here are the mods I started doing (in order of modifications!)

I like the look of badge-less hatches, so I simply removed the 'yaris' and 'toyota' to give it a cleaner look.

Wheels in my opinion are the most important part to a car. They enhance the overall look. I decided to go with some Axis OG Sakuras (in pink of course). 'Sakura' in Japanese means cherry blossom. The center face of the wheel resembles a blossom figure. Wheel size is the standard OG Axis size, 15/8. This was the day I brought my little blossoms home!

The lovely gents at Urban X mounted my wheels for me. I chose at 195/45 for the wheel to give it a bit of stretch.

I decided to go with the JDM Yaris badge. The 'Vitz' logo is more aggressive and adds a slight uniqueness to the appearance of the front end.

Since my model doesn't come factory with fogs, I thought i'd buy a set and install them. Also, adding a more aggressive look to the front end.

It was a difficult decision to whether I should order lowering springs, or coil overs. I tossed the choices back and fourth. I put in an order for Tein S-tech springs, but after short realization I noticed it might not drop my car as much as I'd hope it would. I cancelled that order and instead I ordered Tein Street Basis coil overs to give me the option to adjust the ride height and have a stiffer suspension so there is less body roll.

The final mod I have recently just added was the tiny lip added onto the front bumper.

Yep, you can definitely tell the stick out a bit more in the front. When you say more wheels, do you mean 2 more to replace the front 15x8 +25 with 15x8 +42? or just a whole new set altogether?

Yeah I was planning on getting 3 degree camber in the front but I'm selling these wheels anyways, so there's no point.

DROP IT. always drop it LOL. That's how I see things anyways. I would suggest coils though so you can raise it up for winter

Hey i was reading the part when u were debating on coilovers or lowering springs. I went with the springs and they dropped my yaris 2inches. Your car still looks kinda high in the front but the rear looks just like mine. Nice tinted head lights. I am planning to get a set of headlights. I did order a set od taillights but it seems like the aftermarket tails were only made for the 2dr hatch and not the 4dr hatch that i have. so yeah good job with ur yaris.

So... a bit of an update...

As I shuffled around the idea of selling my yaris, I realized that I own this yaris, i've put my time and money into it so why not keep it. I had parked it for the winter and bought a cheapie winter beater (mk2 jetta) and after many problems with the jetta I felt more compelled to bring my yaris back out on the road. I went to my uncle in-law's house (where yaris was parked) and brought her home. It felt so good to be behind the wheel of my little silver egg again.
After lot's of time and thinking and shuffling around so many ideas for which wheels to get and which suspension to get I decided to go a bit bigger than I did last year. I was disappointed with the appearance of my car last year so I decided this year I wanted to make it look better...

The verdict: 17" Rotiform BLQ's and AirRunner suspension.

I'm so happy I decided to get 17's as last year the 15's were just too small for me and I've always loved the idea of air suspension so I saved up a bunch of money and bought Air Runner air suspension.

I dropped my car off at Zero Limit Auto this Saturday to get the suspension installed. The service there is incredible and it's such a comfortable shop to be in. My car should be out of the shop today or tomorrow, which is super exciting!

Hahah they're +30. I had 15x8 +25 last year and I didn't like the fitment. Poked out too much so I went for a higher offset :)

Here's a few photos from last night! I have to roll my fenders for my car to air out all the way. I'm only running 20 psi in these photos because the fender is sitting on the tire.
Will be rolling them this weekend, so HOPEFULLY I am able to air out all the way ;)

I can't air out all the way because the fender sits on the tire. Im in the process of rolling the fenders and camber. I'm only at 25 PSI as it sits. I can't go to 0 yet.

Then as I step out of it... I'll get those oogle eyes as they realize I'm female. =P

I used to do oil changes on my Kia and I had started doing minor modifications but this is a whole new ball park.
I'll definitely need to learn a lot to keep up with the folks here. Heh.

I hope I can be awesome like you. =D

Hi there! No I never ended up rolling my fenders, I sold my wheels a few months ago so I didn't roll them. Also, yes I'm currently driving my car right now and there's a few ft of snow in Calgary. I driven it for two winters now. :biggrin:

Had mine for nearly 2yrs and had 2 clutch replacements, apparently there is an issue with yaris clutches but I need to know more could anyone tell me, Thanks
