pics of a TRD intake installed?

Does anyone here run a TRD intake... and if you do, could you post some pics of where the air box is located when it's installed?

I like the long straight intakes for better low end... but not the fact that the car needs to be disassembled just to service the air filter.

I have the TRD cai and the instructions are straight forward.
The air box I assume you mean where the cone filter is located between frame
Rail an wheel well.
1)The tubes are a snap to install
2)all you have to do Is jack the car up and turn the steering wheel left completely.
3)look inside the wheel well on the liner youll see buttons(center removal of button with flat head screw driver you do not have take apart snaps slide middle out and pull entire button out) you have two snaps to undo and one bolt philips no 2. (star) underneath that holds the lining of the wheelwell to the bottom of the bumper once that's of you can peel back liner And install the cone filter . Remember to disconnect negative battery terminal when you install. Sorry no pics but honestly it is a really simple install take your time and enjoy the experince .

The TRD is exactly like other aftermarket cold air intake designs that are available. The longer pipe passes through the inner fender well and the filter sits in the wheel well, protected by the fender liner. We sell a ton of the Injen intakes; the price point is better than TRD and the quality is every bit as good.

Thanks so much for the long studs. They worked perfectly with 5mm spacers. The closed end splined Gorilla lug nuts didn't bottom out. They have a full 13 turns when they are tight on the wheels.

It was a simple installation. I just tapped out the old ones with a brass hammer and pulled in the new ones with a spare lug nut and a pile of washers. :thumbsup:

I think I'm going to forgo a fenderwell filter because up here we get flooded roads.

Do you know if anyone has hacked off an Injen and put the filter in the engine bay?

^ You are describing a short ram intake instead; AFE is the best one and we keep it in stock. It provides an airbox with the kit that helps keep heat and dirt away from the filter.

I like the AFE dry filter, but don't like the two 90 degree bends. On the other hand I like the straight K&N, but don't like the oily filter and the price. The Weapon R looks really cool even though it has one bend, but I don't like the foam filter...

...so instead I modded my stock air box until I decide whether or not to get another intake. :wink:

Be sure to remove the carbon trap filter thats riveted in the air lid.

I was able to remove it intact by grinding off the heatstamped nubs with a Dremel tool.

Trouble with to date no and I do not expect any water problems either.
Injen is an excellent brand I had it on a corolla great all around.
I chose TRD because that's what I wanted. pick what you like research and enjoy

Yes, unfortunately that has to be a consideration because we live in a flash flood area. If I do get anything it'll likely be a short one. A year ago my wife's car was almost floating. :eek:
