Anyone had an OE head unit apart? (aux port)

Hey guys,

I have an 09 5dr with the factory aux port in the head unit face. I want to have an aux wire in the console/armrest so I can hide all the wires etc when parked. I was thinking about removing the head unit, taking it apart and soldering on another set of wires to run to an aux port in console. I am wondering if this is viable or not. As in, is there enough room to do this in the head unit?

My 09 5 door US Yaris had the external AUX jack via the connector on the back of the radio, so I haven't specifically seen the one you are referring to, but from my experience, there is a lot of open space within a double DIN head unit. So, you should have plenty of space to solder a set of wires parallel to the existing jack and bring them out.

Thanks Scott. I didn't think it would be too tight in there but figured I would ask. I'll give it a go once I get caught up on a few other things.... OK, a lot of other things. Not enough time in a week anymore.
