Finally after over a year of saving and planning the air setup is finally complete!

The front struts are custom Air Force struts(bought through Bag Riders) and the rear is a kit though Air Lift that a friend who is a dealer put together for me. If anyone is interested in going this route get a hold of me and i can put you in contact with people :)

the wheels are OEM BBS RM from a MK2 VW gti that were stripped down and powder coated barbie pink. They are now 15x7.5 front 15x8.5 rear thanks to 1.5" Lips from Black Forest Industries and 2.5" rear lips from Tuner Shop. They have 195/45/15 tires all around.

oh and there is one of my yaris and my boyfriends R32

front offset is ~+19ish rear offset is ~+8. stock are 15x6.5 ET33. a little camber was added to the fronts to get them to tuck. 165/45/15's might go on in the future if i want to get less front camber.

I can totally see where you're coming from, my previous car was a super low (static) passat with stretch and poke. Finally moved up to my dream car (the R32) and knew that look didnt belong on the R, for me at least. I love the way race car yaris's look too! There use to be a guy around here with rally lights on his grill and black RPF1's on a black Yaris, I loved it!

But ive got to say: I LOVE driving her Yaris, even with the bags it reminds me of my old MK2 Gti as far as handling(yes the bags handle) and overall feel. But much like the euro scene it's stance or race car look. She wanted stance and picked all the parts and paid for everything, I just helped where I could. Plus she wanted it girly, can't get much more girly :). I think she said if she ever wants to go fast she is buying a STI haha.

The NFG thing use to be a group of tight friends and that was somthing we use to say to each other constantly(usually before doing somthing stupid/awesome) someone made stickers. The group has since gone it's ways but it's a pretty good way to explain the car. She wanted it bagged and didnt give a F what it took. 10 weeks waiting for custom struts and 3 months trying to find someone willing to make them.

and yet i agree on the NFG sticker but it was a good part of my life and i still live by it to a extent. i do have a much larger one but the fact little kids love my car i wanted to keep it small, personal and not noticeable. :smile:

yep, that is my R. best automotive purchase yet! (i also have a caged and track ready Scirocco.... its for sale too). I feel this car needs to be shredable not stanced. I agree that LOTS of the vw community is going for the stance look, and lots of it looks really good but for me it doesn't belong on a R.

honestly i had a feeling the Yaris was gonna look good "stanced" like hers is now, but I'm honestly blown away at how good it turned out, i see it every day and i am still blown away at how good it looks. I LOVE the body lines of the Yaris and i think thatt they look good with any and all mods. Honestly if my R ever got to the point (500whp+) and i was financially OK that i didn't need or want to DD it anymore i would ABSOLUTELY consider a yaris as a DD, coils and wheels with a few bolt ons and it would be a total blast. In all seriousness i feel the Yairs is one of the most underrated economy cars out there!

Removing the badges on the rear is easy. It just takes a heat gun or a hair dryer, and some dental floss. The heat destroys the adhesive enough so you can relatively easily remove the badges with the floss.

It was a total of 4000 - 3000 of in parts and 1000 was install by a very professional shop that does lots of air installs. everything is hidden so you cant even tell its there. It would have been less if I had a different controller but I'm a bit of a high class Chica and went with the higher price controller.

yep: pretty much all 4x100 wheels will work, so long as they have the right offset. not sure of the bolt pattern on the new yaris, but if its 4x100 there are tons of options out there! especially in 14-16 sizes

Air is gas as in oxygen. It's like adding air into your tires, except the air stored in a tank. There usually is a monitoring system with either analog gauges or digital gauges. It will tell you how much air (in psi) is in the tank and how much air is in each bag. No temperature gauge needed.

Typically when tanking a gas (ie: O2), the gas is compressed into a liquid form. This allows larger amounts of the molecule to be stored as the density of the molecule is increased thus freeing up space. I was just wondering if that is how these systmes operate. THat most likely would make it easier for the O2 to freeze.

What happens if the monitoring system reads the temp too cold or hot? Is there a failsafe that closes the lines or anything?

The air compressed in the tank is less than 200psi. It doesn't turn into liquid oxygen. Converting gaseous oxygen to liquid form would require several processes which would included cooling the gaseous oxygen at some -300 degrees. There may be a little heat generated in the tank from compression but not to a level that would be considered dangerous at all. It also doesn't freeze at all. Sometimes you might have to release some air from the tank into the atmosphere because the air in the tank can have moisture. When you do that, the air (and unwanted moisture, usually water) that exits will be a little cold. But it's not "freezing" like you would imagine.

The air suspension setup is basically like pumping your tires at the gas station. At the station, there is a tank, a compressor, a pressure regulator and hose with a valve. When you pump air into your tires it comes from the tank. When the tank runs low, a compressor kicks in and refills the tank. A pressure regulator sets the psi and tells the compressor to stop when air is filled to that psi level.

Now imagine you had that exact same setup except that it's all in your car. And instead of pumping your tires, you're pumping air into the airbags of your suspension. That's basically it. You could actually pump your tires from the tank if you attach a long enough hose to reach your tires.

There really isn't a "failsafe" but it usually fails if not installed properly. Common problems would be improper connections which causes air to leak or the rubber on the bags have rotted or cracked. Air suspension has actually been around for a long time (see huge semi-trucks that haul huge loads cross-country). It's just on a smaller scale now and available to the public. So problems mostly occur from not installing it properly. Otherwise they should last the life of your car ownership.

i don't air out as much. my tank will drain it self over night due to temp change. i did not put anti freeze in my tanks. i know a lot of vw people do this. the shop that installed my air told me not to as he never needed it. i will air out when it hits 25 degrees F and up but nothing below. i never had an issue with anything freezing. which is good :) i don't have anything else installed for the winter to help with the air set up its the same as it was in the summer. somehow i think it works better in the winter.... lol

Yea for sure, the one day a few weeks back when it snowed a ton I was looking around and thought the pink centers and polished lips would really work well with the snow and utilizing buffalos run down industrial landscape for added contrast would be great. Talked to a buddy and when it finally snowed again we were all set.

This was 2 days after a big snow fall so finding truly virgin snow was hard but I think we made it work. The snow in the tires really adds a little extra sweetness in my opinion.

new color, fixed my broken bolts and centers that were stolen. my new dimples got color<3 and new tires for the front. which those are getting new ones :( too small.

I lucked out one of our friends were selling these or for trade. I traded my Porsche phone dials for them. these are nice wheels <3 i just cant wait till they are on eggy full time haha.

the pink looks different in pictures its not that bright. its called cupcake sparkle. when i came back from vermont for the bagriders BBQ. there is a concert near my apt and someone jacked them and tried to steal my wheels. air suspension saved them. so the new ones are metal and the ones that came on the wheels not like my replacement ones. They just snap in place so they will never be on the car again only for shows and get togethers.

Are you sure about that? I've been researching painting the housings inside a LOT lately and DINO's definitely looks like it has a vinyl tint on the lights. Plus, in pictures from page 6 and prior, the lights look the exact same but without the tinted look..
