My 2008 Yaris has a strange humming noise randomly when come to a stop, it sounds like you pull steering wheel all the way to one side. I first thought A/C fan noise, but regardless A/C was on or not. Sound every loud. My car has 60K on it. Does anyone car have the same issue? thanks.

My 08 Yaris hatchback with 80km does the same thing.
Had it at two Toyota dealers and they ruled out that it was not the water pump or alternator .
Just my luck it does not happen when they take it out for a quick test drive.
Mines not a standard ,it's an automatic.
Has anyone else had this problem?i would like to know what is doing it.
one mechanic said it may be the ABS sensor/ pump starting to go.

It may just be the electric power steering, particularly if the zero point calibration is off.

For the heck of it, try pulling the EPS fuse and driving to see if the sounds disappears. The wheel will be a bit hard to turn when not moving, but once you are rolling it will feel fairly normal.

This happens when the steering wheel is not being moved at all and I am at or coming to a stop.Just as cityboy described

That's why I say the zero point calibration for the EPS may be off.
