Compared to my new ride .
I have finally taken delivery on my MIEV .

This is "Milli" as in milliamp

Actually I feel confident the MIEV will take the Yaris off the line . 145 lbs of instant , and I mean instant torque.... feels really good .

congrats man, I was taking a long hard look at those myself. I have a 3 mile commute each way, so no range fear there.

Looking forward to your further review.

That's a cool little car...
The styling is similar to the 2nd gen Yaris'. Is it pure electric plug in, or gas engine style hybrid? How much did it cost? Electric motors are known for having no torque curve. They're all torque, all the time.

Enjoy your new "car". I think it's funny that it's a fully electric car, but doesnt have push button start.
How roomy is the interior? More/Less/Same as Yaris?

Thanks everyone .

The MIEV is basically Yaris size . It even has Yaris style cupholders ( in front of vents). But it does not have all the storage space the Yaris does .

The MIEV is freakishly quiet . I have driven the dealers MIEV for about 1ooo miles . This car is a hypermilers dream . I traveled across town 14.7 miles and GAINED 2.2 miles on my charge :thumbup:

29,125 - 9,700 $ so basically under 20K . Oh wait $ 1300 for charger and install

Oh and Garm , I inquired about purchasing some Tein coilovers for this car . The JDM chasis code is HA1W and the USDM code is HA3W . Hopefully Tein will produce coilovers to fit the MIEV . Soon I will check to see if the JDM specs match the USDM specs . I understand the USDM cars have longer bumpers , but that does not mean the parts dont match .

More in depth review later ...

ElectraFlush!

EPA says 62 mile range. It's the only thing that makes me nervous. I bet real life people get more out of it.

Yeah, we posted 5 minutes apart. I'd guess that in real life people would get less. Perhaps HTM will let us know what range he gets out of his.

Congrats.

Can't say I'm a fan personally, but it's a more reasonably priced electric choice. Although still overpriced when you make economic comparisons to gas cars.

I'm not a fan of any electric, at least for now. Until they come with 300+ mile ranges ( I want the ability to take a day long road trip) while coming way down in price, I wouldn't consider one. The fact that these cars cost twice as much as a comparable gas car is a no go for most. $15-$20K premium for less convenience? And that's a car's lifetime worth of gas.

Also, HTM Yaris, what was the reasoning in choosing this over the Leaf?

Leaf is "just" $5K more for much more car.

- Longer range
- Much better/bigger interior.
- Lot more cargo space
- Better styling? (both are hideous)
- Nissan quality is better than Mitsubishi quality

Not criticizing your decision, just curious.

My reasons are as follows .

Cost , Mitsu is cheaper , also I spend 3K + annually on fuel cost
Cargo , Mitsu has more . Mitsu has 50 cubic feet compared to the 24 of the Nissan
Style , I have been craving this car since 2005 .
Noise , the Mitsu is quieter
Experience , Mitsu has way more experience in EV technology , I would not be surprised if the Nissan uses Mitsu parts and technology .
Quality , Mitsu is equal to Nissan quality
Interior , I hate light colored interiors( Nissan ) , they reflect light inside the cabin making it more difficult to see outside the cabin . Maybe its just me , but when I am driving I want to see what is outside clearly . I really don't give a flying fudge nut what is going on inside of the cabin . The Mitsu does have the option for all chrome rings around the controls , but Mitsu also has the option ( ES ) for the all black interior , which I chose .

Mitsu says that you will get 62 miles on full charge , but when I got in my Mitsu today to run errands , the gauge indicated that I had 79 miles on my charge . I drove 8 miles for my errand and when I arrived back home my gauge indicated I had 77 miles left on charge . I am relearning how to drive . I love hills and watching my charge climb . I have found that if you hold the accel pedal just right you can accel and charge at the same time ....going downhill of course

The accel pedal is very sensitive .

Garm , hold off on looking for the Teins . Apparently if you change the suspension , you will void the warranty according to the owners manual :frown:

^^ Fair points

Enjoy the new car!
