Does anyone know about a recall for the Goodyear Eagle LS tires?
These were factory supplied on my 2009 Yaris S, my tire treads are seperating from the side wall on all 4 tires!
Tire size is P185/60R15 other numbers are: Y2152 and 3KRR4408.
Anyone else experiencing tread seperation?
I would hate for one of these things to fail and completely rip apart on the highway.

WHAT DID DEALER SAY? goodyear recall is news to me....
your tires were made the 44th week of 2008 from info you gave me BTW....
that isn't right. Are you under the warranty still? I'd go to the dealer and demand a replacement.
I have not seen anything about mass failures of tires recently.
No recall that I've heard of, but hopefully they are under some type of warranty. I'd take to the dealer ASAP, and not drive on them often (or at highway speeds.)
Wow that sounds bad hopefully that should be covered. Are you driving on any extreme terrain?

Nope, just driving city, suburban and highway nothing out of the norm.
I keep the tire pressure at 32 PSI. as stated on the door tag. I have never seen this on any other tire I ever owned. I have only had GY tires one other time and they were great. This set is comming apart right where the tread meets the sidewall kinda like a recapped truck tire you see on the side of the highway. Weird.
I'm going to go to the selling dealer we got the car from and see what they have to say. There is no warranty left on the car but, I thought perhaps someone else may have experienced this.
BTW, when we bought this car the 09 5 door S. we also bought an 09 3 door yaris. The other one has Bridgestones and they look just fine. The S came with an LS tire. (luxury/sport?)
Both cars are automatic and stock. Go figure?
I was hoping there was a recall I did'nt know about so I would'nt have to pay out of pocket for new tires. If I do this will be the last set of Goodyear tires I ever own.
O' one more thing the car has 40K miles on it and the tread is still good.
When these tires are new they have a tread depth of 10/32nds currently the tires in question have 5/32nds tread remaining so they are only 50% worn and comming apart.

Thank you for that I could not remember how to read the numbers but, I knew something was there.
So the tires are only what, 3 years 8 months old with 40K miles and 50% tread remaining. I purchased the car July 31st of 09 so from the date of sale the tires are actually only 2 years and 11 months old. The tire warranty is only good for one year and after that it says its prorated for 6 years. I wonder if The TIRE RACK can help me out with this?
The prorate is stated as 50% worn so I would have to pay 50% of the new tire price plus FET and sales tax, plus dismount/mount and balancing.
So, TIRE RACK shows em for 424 for the set so cost to me will be 212 for 4 new tires plus the fet, tax, dismount/mount and bal. hmmmm?

I hear ya. Today I drove our 2003 highlander. I had to do some hwy so I left the yaris home. Don't want to chance it.

$212 plus FET and sales tax?
With 40,000 miles, I'd just dump them and get some good tires.
How about these for $278 delivered to your door:

Oh duh, its late, I see it 82x4=328-50 rebate=278.
If it were 278-50 rebate=228 to me then I would take em. Its a better tire I know and the difference would pay for my dismount, mount and balance and Discount Tire would beat TIRE RACK by 6 bucks.
I can get you those 185/60/15 H727's for cheaper if you'd like, just PM me. $325 shipped, and the rebate is still valid.
Can also get a set of General Altimax RT, which is a really good tire, for $275 shipped to your door, if you didn't want to deal with the rebate.

I'm in the same boat as Sammy
Factory supplied on my 2010 Yaris. All 4 tires tread is seperating from the sidewall.
Tire size is P185/60R15 Eagle LS
17,200km on the car.
Took it to the dealer and they sent pictures to Goodyear. Goodyear will cover 50% of the tires. But i have to pay for install and pay toyota's price for the tires ($149 a tire) grand total $425. Does this seem right for a defective tire? I have to pay for the install? (Not very knowlegable on tires and i really don't want to get hosed)
