Car took around 3+3/4 quarts and is at Full mark .

I put on at least 40,000 miles per year, use only summer months (wifes car in winter, I use a '12 Subaru Forester) bought with 45K last year.

Put (what I thought was) about 4 quarts in, after reading the manual online and seeing it required 3.9 quarts for a change with filter. Drove it about 800 miles, after noting several times the oil dipstick read over full (weirdly). Drained out 300ml of oil, it now reads dead on "full", when the motor is both hot and cold.

I did this at or around 4800 miles on the previous oil / filter.

Oil out: OEM 5W-30(changed every 5k miles at a dealership since it was under warranty)
Miles on car: 34.3k originally, then again at 36.7k miles
K&N oil filter

car reached 3 year warranty limit before I got 35k. didn't buy an extended warrenty after all it is a Toyota.
