Hello,
im interested in converting my rear 5.25 speakers to 6x9. has this been perform by anyone yet? im curious if its possible without much work. if so, any tips? thanks in advance.
im limited in tools, so i was thinking buying 6x9 mounting bracket. instead of making them myself. and maybe cut the opening bigger to be able to put the 6x9 speakers in.

I think you would be the first one to pull it off. Do you already have a set of 6x9's? If not, I think that 6.5's would be better since you have limited tools. That and the opening in the interior panels isn't even as large as the stock speaker.

If you haven't bought the 6x9's go with 6.5's. It'll make your life a whole lot easier.

no, i havent bought the 6x9 yet. thank you very much crankyoldman and s7v7n for your input. it looks like im not going through with this project. sticking with the 5.25. i dont want to go halfway on the 6x9 and end up buying more tools just to complete it. thanks again.

I've recently put in Pioneer TS-G1644RR (6.25 in.) all the way around (4 of them). I took pics, and hopefully will post them soon. I reused the rear plastic mounts with some minor mods. Requires soldering and gluing, so if you plan this path and don't already have them, pick up a pen-type soldering kit from Radio Shack (25-30 Watt), and a tube of Shoe Goo from Walmart (carded/pegged with the laces and/or polish in the shoe section).
