Bought Rims Need help on proper tire size.

Hi all. Im jessie and i am new to the forum. I have a 2007 yaris sedan and i just bought new rims for it. they are sport tuning T5 15x6.5. my yaris is stock no modifications. any help would be appreciated. thanks a lot

I put a set of 205/50-R15 on my stock 15x5.5 steel rims and there were no clearance issues since they're a good 1/2" smaller in diameter than stock 15's. You can comfortably get 205/55-R15 tires in there if you like taller sidewalls (for a smoother ride) at near-stock diameter. I dropped my suspension with Tien s-tech springs (2") two weeks ago and there are still no rubbing or clearance issues. If you think you may want to lower your ride height in the future, wider or taller tires may limit what you can get away with.

Here's where it gets complicated though: are you planning on getting one set of all-season/all-weather tires and using them year-round, or do you want to go with separate summer and winter setups? I went with the summer/winter setup to get better performance in each season. Winter tires should be skinny to maximize contact pressure on ice, summer tires should be wide to get better grip on pavement.

Maybe you should spend some time browsing the "aftermarket rims" thread to get an idea of what different sized tires look like on different setups, either for aesthetics or for clearance/rubbing issues.

For 15" wheels, 185/60R15 tires are the factory size. If your car has 14" wheels, you won't be able to reuse the tires

im planning on buying new tires. i have yokohama tires now and they are crap, dont last me 20,000 miles before i hve to replace them and im not a rough driver at all. i will check out the after market thread on the rims, thanks

With that wheel (15x6.5, ET40) on stock suspension, 195/60/15's and 205/55/15's work very well.

Good call. I run the same size. :thumbsup:
I chose 60 series tires because there are a wide variety of high mileage long wearing ones to choose from. As a rule, the lower the series number, the lower the treadwear number. 195/60 also allows you to retain the same wheel diameter as stock so that your speedo and odo remain accurate.

205/55 works fine with a mild drop as well. Here seen on 15x6, ET39 and TRD springs.

Yea lol, my friend pointed that out as well. In a few years i plan on getting the whole car painted as well, has a lot of little nicks and dents from shopping carts and such.
