What's everybody's view on painting the center stack? The pieces that (on USDM) are silver and go 'round the radio and the HVAC controls. Been thinkin bout either paintin' it either black (JDM style) or blue/exterior color, kinda like on newer neons. The silver just kinda sticks out badly. In addition I'm thinkin bout paintin the gear shift trim, the piece that goes round the gear selector.

painting is a good thing.

So what do you think would look better black or body color? I'm partial to body color idea since it's more my style.

ok sweet! I don't mean to pry but I noticed you painted the upper door plastic, can you take a pic of them also? Also what kinda prep work did you do?

Do it!

Funny thing is my family had a newer Neon way back when. It was black, so I never knew about the color matched trim on the inside until much later when I saw a yellow Neon with a yellow center stack... Totally blew my mind.

I'd do a color matched trim paint job myself, but it'd just end up being silver painted plastic... which is what the trim looks like anyways.

yeah, sure no problem...

and i....
sanded them down with 600 grit sand paper
Cleaned and dusted
used plastic adhesive promoter
used sealer
then painted/cleared them

ive got pics tucked in some thread where i did a blue to match the dots on the seats and door fabric. its meh. i may redo it cf. i have a silver yaris, and as stated above, paint matching would have been useless. but blazing blue looks good on interior. easy thing to do though, and is instantly noticeable. go for it.

ok so how would I go bout taking out the HVAC knobs out of their housing, without messin anything up? I'm kinda torn between painting and puttin a boot on the shifter bezel thing, which would look better? I'm tryin to both customize and kinda class it up a bit
