FS: Toyota Yaris Transmission (5 speed manual)

So when swapping my Echo's tranny, I learned a Yaris transmission will NOT work in an Echo. The mount is completely incompatible.

I got this off barber a few months ago, and it's supposed to have only 8k kms (5k miles). It sure looks like it!

Price: the same as I paid: $500 <----- I HAVE A BAD MEMORY!
Although I would have paid $500 just the same for the tranny, a certain member had me double check the price, and I actually paid $250 for it.

I'm just trying to replace my old tranny, one of the bearings inside was making a LOT of noise, not neccessarily trying to upgrade or anything.
I'd love to get an xA/xB tranny with the shorter final drive though!

FWIW the case on the Yaris' tranny looks stronger than the Echo's, more webbing in general, especailly in the differential area.

The LSD was never installed in this tranny - Johnny bought the LSD and is using it in his Echo with a Scion xA tranny I believe.

If you need the xB mounting holes, I'd be happy to part with the case from my spare xB gearbox. I'd hate to see this project get shelved for something that I could help fix. I can get more pics of it from other angles this weekend if needed.

Thanks for the offer, but I've already bought an Echo transmission that will be going in today or tomorrow, so I'm only looking to sell the Yaris tranny outright.

I could have swapped the Bellhousings between my old tranny and this one, but I believe the bearing for at least one of the shaft's is in it, and I'm pretty sure that's what was bad. I might end up rebuilding my old tranny, or use it towards a 6 speed swap :)

There's no counterweights on the gear select shaft, the gear select shaft doesn't protrude from the narrow end, no position restrictor pin, and a stamped steel 5th gear cap. Finances are really tight right now, otherwise I'd buy it just to see what's inside of it.

I wish I could tell you, it was sold to me as a Yaris tranny. The only thing I can confirm is that it will not work in an Echo :/

This. If there's a VIN plate, it will be on the face of the output shaft that faces away from the bell housing.

The Echo trans is in the left of the first pic, which takes up my entire browser window too - scroll over to the right to see the Yaris tranny.

I hope you filled that gearbox with some oil for long-term storage like this. Otherwise you might be running into rust issues...

That's highly unlikely as everything inside it would have a coating of oil on it. If it's been kept out of the elements there shouldn't be any problems.

I sprayed either WD40 or Liquid wrench in it, along with plugged the axle shaft holes with rags or paper towels, and it's been in a plastic bag on a shelf in my garage ever since. Not looking to ship the tranny.
