backup camera!

hi all, i got a dvd player on my yaris supporting the backup camera with a wire on it to detect the position of reverse gear.
i installed the camera and all the wiring except that on for camera control, it should be connected to the reverse gear circuit to automaticaly switch to camera mode when the reverse gear is selected.
the question is, where can i find that circuit ! it should be somewhere near the gear shifter, but i cant see where exactly.

Why not just wire it up so its on all the time..? Could just be a positive wire to turn the camera on.


or just hack into your reverse like* light. bulbs and then it'd only be on while your in reverse

mine is on all the time, i like to use the camera even when i am not reversing. But i can never find the wire from the head unit that hooks up to the reverse wire, can you tell me what does it look like? I have the double din touch screen player like many people have here.

i think there must be a wire in this place which activates the reverse lights, am i wrong !!

ahh i think the reverse switch would be closer to the gearbox near the linkages around there

The switch for the back-up lights is on the transmission, but you can tap the red wire in connector 4B, pin 22 in the under dash fuse panel:

thank you so much CTScott, I connected the camera control wire to that red wire and it works great, now it switches to camera mode when I shift to reverse gear.
