I am about to change my oil and found some Pennzoil 0w20 Platinum. But I am curious if anyone has experience with the Pennzoil Ultimate and what makes it better (costs about $3 more per gallon).

I don't think they make the Ultimate in 0w20 and was surprised to find it in the Platinum version.

Anyone have any information?

It think you answered your question.
The Platimen has more of the compound that enablies it to flow at lower temps.
5- 30 is more than adiquate in most places excepte close to the the poles.

Having said that, giving any product a different name enables a company to charge more as they can infer that it is a better product whether its true of not . It an age old marketing gimmick and the oil industry is one of the biggest offenders. The industry is rampant with maketing gimmicks to get your money by misrepresenting their products.
When was the last time you trusted any major oil company to be 100% honest?

You'll be happy with the Pennzoil Platinum. It's a very popular oil with a sterling reputation. And, as you noted, you can't get the Ultra in 0wXX anyway. The Ultra is a superior oil, too, and meets a lot more international specifications than the Platinum does, but for the engine in a Yaris the Ultra is overkill.

The guy with the 400,000 (or is it 500,000) mile Yaris uses Walmart Synthetic.

And you point is what? That synthetic provides superior protection?

No. Its the cheapest synthetic out there. Castrol GTX costs more. ($21 vs $26) :headbang:

FWIW......
I got my oil changed in my Celica (bought new) exclusively at the local Toyota dealer simply because it was convienent and quick. I'm shure that they did not us any sort of premium oil , just a standard 5-30 oil that met the nessary/required specs.
The Celica was DD used for commuting in all kinds of NY weather. When I sold it at over 95k miles the engine still ran like new.

Just put the Platinum 0w-20 in the '11 Fit . No issues . Use Platinum 10w-30 for the riding mower and generator with no problems . No consumption . Here's the Technical Data Sheet for the Platinum .
