I have a Mobile DVD system!

My first mod (for my 4-year old daughter back seat occupant)...an Insignia 10" mobile DVD player with remote and 2 wireless headphones (Best Buy installed but its an easy DIY). It has 2 additional AV inputs (one of which I am using for PlayStation 2 slimline in car gaming).

The only thing is...I have hit my head on it a couple of times! Ouch! :laugh:

All I have to do is recline my seat to watch it too! (Only when parked of course for you safety nuts on here).

very nice! is there a particular reason you chose an overhead player over a headrest one?? we're leaning pretty heavily for headrest players in our van, but we're investigating to see how we can incorporate it with our factory jbl stereo system.

Im guessing you would need to have an Aux input on your factory JBL unit.

I want to have one of those installed where my map lights would normally go. That way it would be visible to everyone in the vehicle. Only problem is, i dont know how easy it would be to see from the front seats in a liftback.

im not sure since i dont have one myself, but people with the factory center screen dvd player on their siennas have complained about how its position makes its impossible to watch anything without some kind of glare on it. toyota has pushed the screen as far to the front as it can, and it seems visibility is still poor for the second row occupants, for whom the system is intended for. the only solution people say is to have the screens headrest mounted, which is why im looking into those. if you want to place a screen where the maplights are, there might be a huge issue for the front passengers with regards to angle of viewing and glare, since the design didnt work for the sienna, and its already pushed decently far forward. i might also just scrap the idea entirely and simply get a few portable 10.2" DVD players with headphones, since getting like 4 of those would still MUCH cheaper than installing headrest monitors. oh, and if you do get a center-style DVD player, dont forget to tint the windows to help with the glare...

You would need to be sure to look into local laws about that. I know here in VA there cant be a visible monitor ahead of the driver without it being wired to the E-brake. That way you have to be stationary to watch movies and such.
