Is there anyway to adjust the spring tension on
the trunk to help it stay open? :iono:

While parked on a incline, I was getting groceries out and I leaned
on the bumper a little then the trunk shut and hit me on the head.

Any suggestions on adjustments?

Thanks

There is a thread here on users changing the air struts that hold the trunk up. With stronger ones. Makes it tougher to close but holds the trunk up more sturdily.

I dont have struts on mine.
I'll do a search but I thinking the thread may be for a hatch.

Mine are fine. If I recall it is a torsion spring arrangement. Try removing and bending the spring(s) to add more pre-load.

Good thread lol...Thought this was a funny problem to have until one day while parked in the driveway the trunk came down and nailed me in the head resulting in a nice gash and 5 staples.. Be careful guys this thing can be dangerous!!

I found a couple videos on youtube which are for the camry but might work for the yaris. It consists of a large rubber band and a couple hooks.

Heres a link:
