View Full Version : My view...............

Friend commented recently on how much he liked how I have setup my"stuff" in my car. Thought I would share it.
This is my view as I drive, GPS (Hardwired) and UltraGuage in glove box behind steering wheel. Wires come out the front of the glove box and chase down the steering column, lid closes, np.
Radar Detector mounted on and below rear view mirror (Hardwired). I tucked the RD wire into the headliner only I didn't remove the A pillar air bag cover, the more I read about those clips holding the cover in place the less interested I was in messing with them.
There is a "rubber" trim piece that is between the air bag cover and rest of the A pillar that runs all the way down the inside of the forward door jamb. Pulled that out a little bit at a time and chased the RD wire all the way down to the fuse box.
GPS and RD are both on Add-A-Fuses 2 or 3 amps ea.
*Hat tip to shaggyone at planet-9.com for the radar detector mount idea.

BTW- My view is much clearer than this pic appears to be..................

I have a LB manual. My gauge is the same as the OP's. The tachs came on the autos, not the manuals. Go figure... :iono:

My manual transmission base model has a tach, but its 3rd gen. Maybe the 2nd gen base models didn't.

I gather when imported from Japan, the yaris center cluster was left as is, & they simply just swapped sides for the steering wheel.
My 2008 has no tach (stich shift). I added one though.

Possibly. But mine isn't a base model.

I think it's a sedan vs LB thing, not a manual vs auto. Sedan's have tachs.

Congrats re your purchase. I don't know what the OP and others use, but I swear by what are now called Scotch All Weather Fastners (they used to be called 3M Dual Lock Fastners -- same product). package of 4 1"x3" Clear strips (2 sets). I used to get them at Radio Shack, but I don't see them at RadioShack.com. Target has them. Not available online, but in the stores. Their site shows that stores near me have them in stock, so it seems to be a popular item. The 'application example' on the front of the new packaging (the lone example) is an aftermarket GPS monitor mounted on a car dash. They don't lose their adhesive in SE Texas heat. I've been using them for over 10 years and I can't remember any of the strips ever failing.

^Debby, Nook is correct for my mount, inspired by PYM's setup, I am using the Scotch All Weather Fasteners, they lock without any play like you would find with regular hook and loop/Velcro.
Caine, Beef is correct it is and Ultra-gauge. I like it very much.
The radar mount is black, I painted the aluminum arm I fabricated for it flat black. With the DS glove box closed anyone walking by would not notice the the RD, nothing stuck on any of the glass, and never see the GPS and UG.
I think my next project will be to install Fiamm EL Grande twin horns. It is my understanding they draw less than 10 amps, so it should be pretty straight forward.
Cheers
