Well, I went to change my fluid this morning and could not loosen the fill plug. It was stripped a little in the process. Any ideas? Drain plug no problem. I was smart and did not drain any fluid. 2009 Yaris HB 140,000 mi. This would have been the first fluid change for this vehicle. She`s wanting her MT-90.... Thanks
That's quite late for a gearbox oil change. As I recall, it should be a 24 mm bolt. Find a large nut and weld it on top of the stripped bolt. Effectively you will have a second hex head to put a socket or box-end wrench on. Another method is to use a sharp chisel punch and hammer and rotate the head of the bolt by striking it torsionally. A little heat on the case can help, but be careful as it is made of cast aluminium alloy-- not good for torch heat.
Order a replacement bolt from Toyota.

Thanks Lux for your reply, I will give it a try, I had thought about heat, but like you I was afraid of damage to the case. My car was Japan built and they just torqued it to much. Yes, I think I waited a little to long to do the gear oil change. Live n learn..Lucky for me Toyotas are always a little forgiving...

Finally was able to change my manual trans fluid. Had to file down all the ruff edges I created on the fill plug, apply liquid wrench and heat I was able to get the plug off. Boy, she sure love`s her MT-90. Drained oil was very dark ... Thanks again LUX.....
