Maybe your head has been in the sand?

The dbags @ TBR are here trolling every other day!

I'll NEVER give those guys a single cent, even had to block that douche from hounding me on FB...trying to poach Garms customer base.

I'm so annoyed by that company.

^ ha, I'm not surprised, I've received several messages about that.

Why have I not heard of TOYBOXRACING before?

Because they've been permanently banned from this site and several others.

oh

okay? :iono:

in the meantime, the manifold looks like a nice casting and if I could figure out the logistics of an ECU swap (from DBW to cable) it might be interesting to try out??

but..................... what about the history that I'm missing?

someone fill me in?? (if even through PM or email) so that I don't get burnt

It's always exciting whenever TBR comes here.
It's like Klingons attacking the starship Enterprise.

eek

sorry to have brought it up.

I wasn't aware that there was bad history.

I just opened a new magazine last night (S3) and saw photos of the ITB's and I got super excited.

Without knowing what happened(I'm clueless), all I have to say is that if they (TBR) were jerks, than its pretty pathetic because we should all be a big happy 1nz-fe brotherhood.

No problem. It's a fun topic and basically harmless.

I know. They create great motor porn.

Whenever the TBR guy starts posting here, everyone looks at their wristwatches to figure how long it will be before he snaps.

I don't think the guy has ever dynoed big numbers though... I honestly haven't been here that long but have seen him come and go a few times. always talking a big game and talking about his huge engine build. still waiting to see some numbers.

garm has a 357hp yaris and there is another guy (chew or something) that cracked 500 recently. I've bought a few things from garm. always had good experiences with his company (microimageonline.com).

TBR has never provided real world evidence of what investing in them will get you. They seem to have a great bit of knowledge, but when someone tells you that they will build you a 350-400hp setup for the type of coin they are asking it makes it tough to swallow when there is no evidence. Throwing down 100 bucks on something without proof is one thing, but dropping 10-20k is insane without something to go off of. Purchasing those ITBs will require other work to net you a real value and in that case it becomes a never ending trail to get to where you need to be.

yeah they have motor building services for like 5-8k bucks but no where do you find any evidence of anyone running their set ups or any dynos or nothing.

Just did a search and couldn't find any TBR sponsored race cars. Granted, their merchandise looks to be top notch and of the highest quality, but their "builds" appear more like inventory assembled just for display rather than for actual working projects. They do have four youtube videos posted, but all are of merchandise with no video of anything they sell which is in actual operation.

I have more videos of actual real world running projects than they do, and I'm just a goof off!

That was a low quote. I was quoted 18-21k when I had talked to them a couple years ago before I bought my turbo kit from Carlos and before they really rubbed folks the wrong way here. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt as I always do.

You might have better luck looking for show cars, I don't think they actually race - you don't see an xB at the track very often.

There is sponsoring someone else who races and then there is actually racing yourself... and it doesn't look like they do either.

I was looking to find out if there was someone on youtube who had actually bought their products and was running them even if was just on the street. But I'll keep looking as I'm curious.

The guy seemed really knowledgeable and I truly enjoyed his informative input, but someone would eventually light the fuse and bang... all that's left is a blackened crater and collatoral damage.

Art raced his xB before building my motor. He eventually got it into the 12's.

I'd love to see some dynos and vids of their stuff too... but like everybody said, there's nothing to be seen.

There's something's strange about this...

I watched all 4 of the videos and there's reference to a "500 horsepower turbo 1NZ-FE" in the video title, and all of the separate parts are shown, but it appears that no one has actually built a 500 horsepower engine out of their parts. The videos are nicely done and are an effective way to showcase the individual components for sale. But there is a lack of an actual completed running engine. Not even a customer's completed running project engine, whether or not it was "500 horsepower".

Now this may be because the company is kind of new and high end stuff doesn't sell that often, but usually when someone buys even one component product and is pleased with it, there is either a written or video record of it somewhere on the internet. Products generate all sorts of customer feedback trails which can be followed back to the merchant...

...but here, there is none. :iono:
