View Full Version : Center Console Lid Pops Up!

HELP!!! my center console lid keeps popping up at any time and for no apparent reason!! it´s REALLY annoying and may even cause an accident since my 2008 Yaris Sedan is standard transmission! How can I fix this? apparently there´s nothing wrong, the tab that locks, is not broken so I guess the console itself moved :( is there a way to disable the spring mechanism that pushes the lid upward? or any other way to fix this? THANKS!

More details:apparently the spring mechanism that pushes the lid up, also pushes the lid outward when closed unlocking and opening the console. Any help?

I GOT IT! All you need to do is pup off the cup holder, loosen the 2 screws, pull the rear part of the console which comes attached with clips and then tighten the two screws in the middle that support the spring mechanism. This procedure can be done in less than 10 minutes!!!

My sincere thanks to you for posting this fix, your directions worked beautifully and my center council is now fixed. :thumbup:

(Side note: when I took it to the dealership they said a new one would be like $600 but to try pick-n-pull for a replacement that they'd be happy to install for another $50):iono:

I know this is from 2012 but I'm having the same problem right now. Console won't stay closed. Does anyone have pics on a how to do this? Or can someone clarify the written instructions?
