Hello. I've got a brand new 2012 Yaris L (MT) 3-door and it's a great car. Odo now reads only 279 miles. I've noticed that the black plastic on the door panels seems to mar very easily. I can simply rub my thumb over the plastic (not my thumbnail...just the thumb) and the plastic will leave white/gray streaks. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks.

Yes. Because of that I don't rub the plastic and watch very carefully how I get in and out of the car. Feet in particular.

Thanks for the quick response. I am also being very careful to not brush up against the plastic. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has noticed this.

From a post I made back in 2007:

"I was surprised how easily the black plastic interior scuffed-up, especially the lower door panels.

Against my better judgement, I tried some vinyl protectant. Surprise... it worked! Now the door panels don't scuff-up like they used to.

I used Turtle Wax F21 Super Protectant. It comes in a big lime-green spray bottle. It does NOT leave a weird odour, greasy residue, or shine like Armorall (which is what I was worried about). It does produces a very low sheen which isn't objectionable.

Perhaps, you could give it a try. I am completely satisfied with the results."

I've notice this too. But I use Meguiar's Natural Shine protectant and it doesn't do it anymore. It doesn't leave a greasy film and doesn't shine anymore than it was without the protectant.

Thanks again for your post. I put the F21 on my door panels this weekend and it appears to have worked. Thanks.

I used Vinylex and found it worked wonders for the scuffing. The only issue I discovered with the 2012 model is following the pattern design of the plastic. Keep it in the grooves instead of a circular motion while applying.
