I drive a Toyota 07 Yaris. My Dad recently changed the brake drums and shoes about a month ago. Recently (within the last week) when I press my brakes down firmly I hear a "thumping" sound only by my rear passenger tire. What could this be and how do I go about fixing it?

Tough to tell without hearing it, but I would think that there is a good chance that something is not where it should be within the drum, like he may have missed connecting one of the spring ends.

Yeah, Scott is likely correct. Take the brakes apart and inspect. It's also possible if the drums were machined badly the shoes are riding out in the groove, then banging back into place. Not too common, but it happens.

Thank you. I am going to take it into my maintenance guy and see what the issue could be. I am hoping it's am easy fix.
