Had a older woman with her S.U.V. pull out in front of us and these are the results . Good thing I was only going about 45 m.p.h.. Roads were wet and a light rain . Had headlights on . Looks like the front driver side fender got pushed outward ( see larger gap beteen hood and fender ) . Hopefully the frame wasn't damaged . You'll see where the back middle of the hood got pushed upward . Larger gap . All gaps are in Yellow . Plan to get it up on a lift for any other hidden issues and to check the tires for flat spots . The alignment seems off as well .

Pull the bumper. Chances are that you crushed the driver's side bumper mount a bit.

Are you ok?

We're fine and she's good as well. Thanks for asking. The adjuster is calling on Monday , so leaving it alone until they send someone out to look at it . Should we still drive it ? Would like to take it to a service center to have it put on a lift to look for any other possible damage.

I would at least take a peek up under before continuing to drive it. If you hit on the other side the washer reservoir would have popped. Check for any sign of leaking from the radiator and also check the AC sight glass before trying to use it.

Thanks I wll take a look at that tomorrow. The A/C was working fine to defog the windshield. The majority of the impact looks to be the driver's side of the bumper .

This really sucks ... there have just been way too many Yaris crashes recently.
Seems that people are just not paying attention to what they are doing, or my favorite, they are just in such a hurry that they run into people. If they are not texting or on the phone .. they are clueless and just driving like they are the only people on the road. Sometimes with really bad results ...
I saw a 3 car accident just today .. still don't know what really happened, but there were fire, ems and police on scene sorting out the mess they made.
Good to hear that everyone is ok .. and the damage doesn't at first glance look too bad.

Want to play the damage estimate game ? Post your numbers to see who is the closest. Will post when we get them. We predict $3800.

Prize is this piece of bumper for the closest to the cost without going over .
Ouch. At least you guys are ok. I'll guess $2500, 1800 parts and 700 labor

Glad to know everyone is okay.
I'll guess $4150 CDN total to repair that in Ontario. Not sure how much that would be in the Northeast states. Probably half that since we get ripped off on the price of car parts...

Drove it some more and notice the front creaks when stopping . Seems to be the passenger side . Went on the interstate and can hear it whistling through the hole in the bumper  . Also when the steering wheel is level it goes to the left and can feel some resistance when coasting . The car is still getting good gas mileage for now . Last , now have a grating / grinding noise when turning neck to the left .

I've had to replace only the two SIDE panels... TWICE... But I vote $2,500 since that's what it cost me... TWICE...

Got 2 quotes . Average is $1,800 . The adjuster came today , waiting on that verdict . Not likely to be totaled . Looks like CT is the closest so far . There are rattles and creaking in the dash and outside somewhere in the engine bay  . The car will never be the same :frown: .

Yes ... very common scenario. She was probably texting or talking on the phone. (My excuse for every accident .. hehe) In other words .. she wasn't paying attention. Happens all the time.

While driving back in the dark after getting neck looked at we noticed driver side high beam is closer than than the passenger side . Will have to fiddle with that . The Eco-Meter is showing 39.3 . Not bad since this includes more city driving due to paperwork needed from D.M.V. , insurance agent visit and 2 appraisals . Aso includes some wet roads , wind , and the 2 of us for the whole tank . It's about .4 lower than the calculated gas mileage . If the calculated is lower it may be a tip off of front end problem(s) or alignment .

Appraised at a little over $2,000 . Not sure if going to get it repaired . If not , the plastic piece of bumper will be needed . Thus , no prize . Sorry CT .

Still getting decent gas mileage . Think there was about 1/2 a tank when happened . Have to see if this new tank keeps the same . The calculated is 40.29 . 1 blinking bar .

CT Scott , I wanted to ask your opinion regarding the recent accident we had. Do you think the frame could be bent? We took the vehicle to two body shops and they both indicate that they don't think the frame is bent. Called a few others and they said the same thing based on the information I gave them regarding the damage. Do you think it would wise to have it put up on a frame rack and measured. It would cost roughly $100 or so . Also, did either of your two crashy's have frame damage? Thanks

Crashy 1 had some frame damage, but she completely rolled and had the passenger side A arm bent more than 4 inches back.
Crashy 2 had none (and I checked by putting her on the lift and measuring opposite diagonal points along the front).
In your case I would say that frame damage is highly unlikely.

We're leaning in your direction . May pass on the frame rack and go with the alignment rack . Has close to 50,000 miles . Went for a trip out of town and it's getting good gas mileage . The Eco-Meter is .5 lower than the calculated gas mileage , so slightly over 42 m.p.g.. Maybe an 4 wheel alignment will bump it up some .

CT , did you decide on the makeover of Crashy 1 ? Yaris styling salon on the horizon ?

 . Hinted at that . No reply . Ranchero , El Camino , or Brat anyone ? Would get better gas mileage .

Actually that all looks fine, including the small amount of movement with that clip. I thought you were saying that it was moving 1/2" or so.

Still getting good mileage . Can't be the alignment was thrown off :iono: . Filled up with 87 w/E10 and a 10 ounce bottle of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner . The 10 ounces is added to the 9.596 gallons and comes to 42.22 calculated . Tires are the Continental Pro Contact w/ Eco Plus set at about 36 p.s.i.. Pics are from the fill to arriving home . Wonder if an alignment still should be done . Turned to over 50,000 miles on this trip .

Had it on a lift at a dealership the day after the accident and all seemed fine . May get a second look over ( under ) done at another shop . Have been watching for leaks . So far , so good .
