Can you describe the difference? I'd imagine the motor revs a little faster (which must be nice when trying to take off from a stop). Anything else you noticed?

overall just better response. almost makes the throttle feel non electric

i'm not sure if i an really tell you the difference seeing as how i installed a lot of other parts at the same time. in general improved response and seems to rev easier and quicker.

That's a very good description there.
Definitely gives you better responsiveness / a better throttle feel.
I've also picked up a few MPGs once I slowed back down after I installed it. :burnrubber:

Hey, that's a good review.
I'll be adding some fuel economy info to that review within the next week!

One way to notice the difference is to drive up a hill that you could previously barely hold in a particular gear, or one that you slowly lost speed on in that gear.
The ninja pulley will make itself known at that time. B)

I haven't noticed a big different to be honest, I think it pulls a bit more stronger now.
I've got the MI crank pulley and the NST Alternator and WP pulley too.
It does rev a little bit faster, but like I said, I don't notice a huge difference. Maybe i'll have to try the hill trick like Garm mentioned.
I have noticed however, whenever the engine gets hot my drive belt squeaks now. I've already spent 150 bucks on a new drive belt and the noise went away for a little bit, now it's back again.
I dunno if the pulley's are ruining my belt or what's going on, but if I have to spend another 150 on another belt i'm taking them off and probably selling them.

Who charged you $130 to install a $20 belt?

I have the NST 10%UD pulley. I have always had a squeal on cold startup with this pulley. Can't get rid of it with belt replacement or adjusting tension. Can't say as the pulley is destroying the belt tho. Wife did once gun it out of the driveway cold with the A/C on. Belt squealed so bad I could smell the rubber wafting up the driveway. That wasn't good.
As far as improving F/E, haven't noticed a lick of difference. Engine does spin up quicker, and this is with A/T.

Mine started squealing about a week after I installed it. Replaced the belt after realizing that there'd be no way for me to get rid of it without replacing the belt. $18 and 10 minutes later and I've been squeak-free!

Who else would charge you a lot of money for something really cheap?
The stealership.
I took it in to the dealership because I was really concerned about the squeaking. I was worried I ruined something on the belt because it never made this sound before, and not matter what tension I put on the belt it would squeak.
I took it in and told them I had a squeak in my drive belt whenever the engine gets hot, they said they would look at it.
I wait a bit, and they come back and say "So you need a new drive belt. That's going to cost 150 bucks." I said yes because if I did mess it up I figured they could do it right.
I feel kinda cheated out of 150 bucks because my drive belt was probably fine.
If the squeak is normal with a light pulley then that's okay. I was just concerned about it since my car has never squeaked or rattled or anything.
It's not really noticeable anyway.
I hope to combo the pulley kit with a lightweight flywheel to really make it rev more freely. :burnrubber:

I had a little bit of squeal, but again I did a lot of mods at once, replaced the belt and readjusted it after a few days and no more squeal. I ironically i didn't have any squeal problems until dad helped me attempt to put on my alt pulley (still not on, lol).

I've noticed with mine that it is a lot smoother in gear at low revs. Like I've freed up a lot of low end torque. Taking corners in the subdivision that previously required dropping down to second, can now be taken in third with no grumbling from the engine like it's about to stall. It's also a lot smoother up the gears in normal city driving.
I've revved it out to the limiter a few times and it gets there a little quicker but I'm not feeling like it's hugely faster, or that this was the biggest benefit to this modification. Keep in mind though, that the OEM pulley weighs about three pounds and the MI weighs less than one, so you're wasting a third of the power you were with the new pulley.

Just make sure you have the correct amount of tension on the belt.
If you don't get it right, well you can buy a new belt and then make sure you have the correct amount of tension on the belt!

Well I have a "MI" appointment next week so I know I'm in good hands... Already had one adventure with my Yaris, not looking for #2, LOL

Although I had a NST crank pulley, the main difference I noted was when shifting, when letting my foot off the gas, the revs would die down a lot quicker, so you had to shift and get back on the gas faster too (and the engine would rev up quicker anyway). So, it allowed faster shifting :)

I have the regular NST lightened crank pulley (not the underdrive one). I've only really notice a difference in free revving (in neutral vs in gear). Aside from that, haven't really noticed anything else. lol

It will be even more obvious with a lightened flywheel.
I have the NST WP and Alternator pulley, forgotten what brand crank pulley (likely is summit or something) and MI CCI flywheel.
If i Shift UP just abit slower, i would have to blip the throttle slightly.
For DOWN shift, blipping the throttle is almost a must for a rev match.

I'm sure I will. everything I've done so far is to make the car a nice fun street ride. I really don't want to go overboard like I've done with previous cars and make them awful on the daily commute.
I think after this all I want is a set of Tanabe NF210s and a header. Oh, and some gripper tires when the stockers have been run bald.

i had a belt squeal initially. my new gates belt was $7 and change. took me 10 minutes to change it along with cleaning the other pulleys, noise went away.
you should replace the belt while your there anyways, & clean/degrease the other pulleys while your there

It seems like there is quite the trend that folks end up a squealing belt after installing a lightweight pulley from either MI or NST.
Replacing the belt and cleaning up the pulleys while you are swapping out the pulley is great great advice.

Based on my own experience with these pulleys, I believe the issue is the aluminum does not grip the belt as well as the OEM cast pulley does.
On a fresh belt, all is good. Once the belt has broken in and retensioned, all is still good. Then, as the belt ages and starts to glaze, the startup squeal is there to stay, but only on a cold engine/belt. If you're experiencing squeal on a hot engine/belt, then there is most likely tensioning issues.
