Im trying to fit some wheels on my car and even with a 1/4 inch spacer I cant clear the caliper. So my question is: How safe is it to grind your caliper brackets down (part closest to the hub)?

I think if I grind it down a good amount I will be able to clear the wheels... otherwise I might just have to get rid of them :frown: , I cant space them anymore due to the length of the wheel studs.

Just use common sense. Don't grind stuff that looks important!

you can normally grind calipers without issue, at least enough to get clearance with the 1/4" spacer.

that being said, I havent looked at the yaris calipers... so I can't say how much :)

It can be done, just be careful.

Are you guys serious? You would grind on something as important as a caliper instead of getting the proper wheel fitment? For some reason, this seems crazy to me. Are there a lot of people out there grinding there calipers?

if the wheel studs are a problem, try a little bit larger spacer and get some longer studs. I agree that I wouldnt be grinding down on the calipers too much, small car, small calipers, probably not enough room to grind them down....plus personally i just dont think its a smart thing to do....

Didn't he say caliper bracket, not the caliper itself. I agree it would not be good to grind the caliper. As for the bracket, grind away, just use common sense.

a agree with those of you wondering why one would grind calipers. How about you sell the wheel that do not fit and buy ones that do? No safty issues there.... May I ask how old you are Walter (this question is in no way ment in disrespect)?

I still think it's crazy to grind on any part of the braking system and drive on public roads. The life you endanger may not be yours.
Grinding THEIR calipers! I'm sure that, using YOUR common sense, you knew what I meant even though I mispelled it.

Well... Im taking it as disrespect, especially when youre trying to be funny with your video.

For your information, Im 27 years old. Im not new around cars. My old Jetta got a 8 page spread in a internationally well known VW magazine, as well as many trophies. Im not a noob and I wasnt asking for approval, I was simply asking for people's experience doing it on this particular vehicle. Its not a new thing...

Bunch of the Ford Lightning guys needed to grind theirs down quite a bit to fit their Bogarts (drag slicks), without issue.

Walters been around the block a few times guys, when it comes to modding, dont dismiss the guy if you have no idea on whats being discuessed here under this topic of calipers being ground down.
