There was a lady that showed up to check out the event from just across the border in New Brunswick and asked what kind of car the "green" one was from the announcer. He told her it was a Yaris and she was shocked. She asked him what I had done to it and he messed with her tellin her that it is "bone stock" :bellyroll:

^ That was the races from last September which were my first. I was told that if I tried it I would never turn back and so far they were right...I have a heck of a fun time doing it.

At what point are you required to install a roll cage?

A 4 point is preferred from 135-150, a 6 point from 150-199, and a full for 200+. 175-224 requires a single chute and 225+ requires dual chutes. There are also several other safety items required depending upon speed ranges, but for the most part SFI 3.3/15 firesuits, 3.3/5 gloves/boots are required once you get over 150. Then there are the harness requirements and fire suppression systems as well.

How much will 7 more mph cost you?

How do you mean?

How much will you have to spend on safety items if you go over 150 mph?

Well the firesuits run around 1500, the boots around 100, gloves around 50, not sure on the fire suppression system, around 100 on the kill switch that will need to be run, and not sure yet on the cage especially since I am going to be tearing out the stock dash completely and having a new one fabricated that will be pushed back 3-5". The average to go up to 175 is somewhere around 2-3k unless you get some great deals which is very possible.

How much boost does it take to make a Yaris go 143 mph in a mile and a half?

Depends on a lot of variables. I was set at 8psi with this tune/car setup, however if I had more time than just the one day to run I would have been able to get 150 out of it I believe had I the time to change my maps for 10psi. There are a LOT of things that you need to do with the car/engine as well other than the boost itself to make these types of runs work. A lot of folks too think that sealing off seams, etc for example as well makes things better, but not always the case. CIP the last run of the weekend a buddy with his other mustang blue taped the hell out of the car...it looked crazy funny. When he went out for the last run he actually did 2mph less than the previous one 20 min before. For all we know all of that tape actually caused drag rather than better aero. :iono:

Wow. I'm impressed that you could go that fast with "just" 8 lbs of boost.
