Does anyone have a source for all of the required parts?

I know MI has the badges! But I would also want the floor mats embroidered with Vitz as well as aluminum door sill protectors(I currently have the ones that say Yaris).

Anything else I'm missing?

Just note that the Vitz doesn't not have a Netz emblem on the rear, only the front. I just spent a week in Tokyo and picked up a OEM Netz badge for the front of my Yaris. Also, the Vitz emblem on the rear goes on the left side where the 'Toyota' emblem resides on the Yaris. There is no emblem on the right side.

Also, the Vitz does not have the side marker lights as the Yaris does.

I've got a bunch of pics if you need references...

hmm, on second thought I will definitely not be doing the conversion. I'm really anal about details and the fact that I could not eliminate the side markers and that the car is LHD instead of RHD means it would never be a true conversion.

oh well. was just a thought anyway.

You could do the side markers, I'm pretty sure other people have. It's just a matter of getting them filled in with bondo, and blending/painting it in to match. Granted, it won't be easy...

The only part that'd be next to impossible is, as you mentioned, the LHD v RHD aspect. There was another user who was doing a GREAT job on a Vitz conversion, unfortunately, that car is gone, and all the pics have been pulled.

Captain's biggest obstacle for a true Vitz conversion; number of doors.

Vitz only comes in 5dr. Captain has two less doors.

That indeed is the biggest problem.

Please try to post your threads in the correct thread section. It's getting old moving all the stuff from the "general discussion" when this was DIY related. I've moved it to the proper sections

Note that some do have side marker lights, but others don't. I just realized that, but at least that means Captain Slow wouldn't have to remove his to be "authentic" since as far as I can tell, the earlier models (2008 and prior) don't have 'em whereas from 2009 onward they do.

But also note that the Vitz only has the Netz emblem on front, and the Toyota one on the rear. Also, the 'Vitz' badge is on the left whereas our 'Yaris' one is on the right; and there is no written 'Toyota' badge as on the US versions.

Hope that helps! :w00t:

^ you should have hunkered down beside it and looked to see if that second axle mount location people have been using is actually for the purposes of accomodating AWD. It's been speculated that that is the reason for it's existance.

There's a lot more to a true RS than just badges... different seats and interior fabric, electronic climate control, etc etc... And yes, 5 doors and the steering wheel on the other side!

Actually if you have sidemarkers, you wouldnt have led sidemirrors, and vice versa. it's similar to the ones here in manila, except for the RHD.

so yes, captain doesnt have to eliminate his sidemarkers at all, unless he has LED sidemirror covers, which IMO are easy to replace with non-led covers anyway.

That tracks, hadn't noticed it but now that you've told us, it makes sense!

We don't have the LED side mirror covers here in the States, unless someone imported them.

:)

TBH I dont dig the LED side mirrors, except that they have the power mirrors and the smaller engined models have the sidemarkers and manual mirrors.

Yeah I noticed that the US versions always lack sidemarkers(used to own a civic EK 96-00), and that manual windows/locks/mirrors are still a dealer (or probably a trim) standard.

Ours dont have those manual windows anymore, except for the super bare trims for yaris sedans (vios) and the lowbudget cars produced by hyundai and kia. (the i10, eon, etc). some of those lowbudget cars even have front power windows.

ive noticed too that you still get steelies and not mags in some trims, here it's only the bare yaris sedans who get those. the hondas, fords, mazdas, mitsubishis etc all have power as standard as well as mags.

my yaris sedan even came with standard 15" Enkei mags.

Sorry to be off topic even more, yeah, in a few years we will probably have those power LED mirrors in the scrapyard, and hell yeah, we can talk about trading OEM products.

My other ride is a Jeep Wrangler, so manual windows and locks are no biggie to me...

I think those may be 14" or even 13" wheels. Looks terribly unstable at parking lot speeds!
