With all the "fallen Yaris" postings lately, I figured I might as well post mine too. BTW, my sympathies to all my fellow fallen Yarises... I understand your pain.

It occurred about a month ago and I'll just let the videos and photos do all the talking:

BTW, I was in the house at the time enjoying dinner, good thing I got a dashcam.

Here's the aftermath:

Luckily, the frame was not touched and only the plastic body parts were hit. Since I wasn't going anywhere fast leaving the panels like that, I just popped out the bumper and what do you know:

it just pops back into shape. I couldn't believe it myself. Funny how the Maxima only has a few paint scratches.

$2k later and I'm back in business again.

Side rant: It turned out that my headlight lost a mounting clip in the melee so I had to redo my HID retrofit on it. The body shop gave me a TYC aftermarket headlight to play with and it uses some kind of white silicone like sealant to hold the assembly together. It was a pain to get the stuff out unlike the OEM black butyl sealant and I would not recommend doing a retrofit on them unless you like to cuss like a sailor!

What kind of dog is Little Chucky? I fell in love with that belly rub video. And, did that driver who backed into you fess up? Probably on a cell phone.

ALL the parts are plastic parts! I live in dread of an acorn falling on mine...

That's not an accident .. that's an idiot. Like who drives like that anyways ?
Sorry to see your Yaris got banged up. It is good that you have it on video.

Thanks Debby! Charlie is a purebred shih tzu. He's the sweetest, calmest, most submissive dog I've ever known.

He did fess up and no, he wasn't on the cell. He said he didn't see my car. He even claimed that he scanned the street as he was walking out! Strange thing was my car was the only one parked on the street at that time. Go figure!

Lol, when I talked to him later, he said he didn't know what happened. I told him I know EXACTLY what happened. I have it on video, lol.

I still think he was daydreaming of some sweet coffee flavored ice cream (darn ice cream truck) while he was backing up at 400mph!

At least I can laugh about it since no one was hurt and I finally caught something useful on the dashcam.

Thanks! The next time I decide to get a dog (I do realize they are a life-long commitment...) the shih tzu is on my list. I've always had miniature schnauzers.

Well living in Vancouver .. I am not surprised something happened sooner or later. Like try getting on the Lions Gate Bridge at rush hour. I have tried .. and I was a tourist at the time. Don't want to experience too much Vancouver traffic again.

I just hope that nothing happens to my Yaris every time I go out on the streets. As you probably know Edmonton drivers are clueless at times. I think it is really cause we don't have bad traffic problems and people just drive too fast and with their heads shoved up their asses.

I try to take things really slow and cool when I am on the road .. as hopefully I am not rushing off someplace and get into a crash.

That's a shame . Good to see things are getting back to normal . We'll probably not get the sedan repaired . Thinking of trying some used auto parts to find a new bumper and headlight to do in the drive . If the price is right . Hope there's better days ahead .

:w00t:I have a 2007 3dr hatchback. A couple of weeks ago, 2 deer bolted out of a bush in front of me at about 45 mph. I hit one head on. The grill and Toyota emblem went flying across the road and when I got out, the front bumper was broken loose across the top and covered with blood and hair. I tied the top of the bumper back on with strips of plastic bags, gathered up the grill and emblem and made it home.
I examined the grill and emblem and they must have skidded on their backs because there was not a scratch on them. I washed off the bumper and it had no damage. The only thing that broke were the plastic fasteners that held the top of the bumper on. I put a few nuts and bolts where the fasteners were and reattached the bumper. The radiator mount had deflected a fraction of an inch so the hood didn't line up correctly, so I took a wooden 2x4 and gently pried the radiator mount to the correct place, using the engine block for leverage. I snapped the grill and emblem back in and it was the same as new. I saved my $500 deductible on my insurance. I did order new plastic fasteners (and some extras) to replace the bolts I used so if it happens again, I can just snap it back together again.
