noticed a slight rattle while stopped in drive. checked intake; the bolt or "joint" of the metal air box is snapped (where it mounts to the battery) *refer to photos*

its obviously not fixable and i doubt i can get just a replacement metal box. should i even bother contacting afe directly or mi for that matter ? i dont know if this even has any type of warranty. im not mad it just sucks it must have just took one to many bumpy rides in bk or nyc. what could i do ??? AHHH oh well and now i doubt i could even sell it who would want an intake with a broken mounting clip

go to a hardware store and buy an L shape bracket, paint it black and attach it to the metal tray and the battery ....I think that'll do the job :P

yeah thats not bad do you mean by drilling into the metal or with the quik weld?

drilling with a small bolts would be more secure ...as long as you have enough clearance between the tray and the battery

Excellent solution, that's what I would do.

Of course you should if it's within the warranty period. Your post took longer than that phone call would.

i did in fact make that phone call, not to mi but to afe, as it was more logical they would have just the part not full kits. anyway it was covered by warranty.... and here comes a new housing ! :smoking: !

the broken one?

Yeah, I'm running an SRI and no heat shield, if you're just going to toss it out, I'll pay for shipping to get it here and make it work.

Seems like a common problem with this intake.

My shield rattles too because I didnt get a nut to secure it to that little screw on the chassis I am considering removing mine as well

guess what the jb didnt even hold and i let it set for like 15 hours i think its just in a really bad spot to much stress on the joint to use any type of epoxy

now its just ghetto clamped HAHAHAH and yes a pink hair tie incase it comes loose it wont bounce around the engine bay

instead of taking it out now ill keep it like this for a few months then sell it with the brand new shield i have

so lame

I think the problem stems from the battery not being 100% fixed to the frame. A nice big pothole in the road should be enough to cause something like that tab to break.

yeah that has to be why it broke in the first place i had a monster pot hole hit my hubcap flew off and i thought i was gonna have a flat but it held just fine. must have broke that tab
