Just what it says, my wife went out to start the Yaris and it started and nothing worked. The AC did not work, the P/S did not work, Every light on the dash (except the batt light) was on.
It would not shift out of park. And then it quit running and would not start again. Then I used the remote start and it started. But as soon as I put my foot on the brake it died.
The dealer has the car right now, I've never heard of a Toyota with only 22,000 miles messing up before.
Just my luck I guess

Not a bad speculation, but being able to use the remote start to fire it up is suspect...

Was remote start aftermarket?

I bought the 2010 Yaris in January 2010, the remote start was put in February 2010. The remote start is working properly.
Dealer just called a few minutes ago, its a bad ignition switch. The new switch will be in, in the morning and the car will be ready tomorrow evening.
Many dealers will always blame anything aftermarket in the car, this dealership did not. In fact the mechanic said it was his first clue to the problem.

Covered under warranty? (I would assume that it would be given your mileage and purchase date)

Yes it is covered under warranty, the dealer also covered the tow fee.
They sent out the flatbed, called us and told us when to expect the truck, called us again to confirm the car was picked up and then called when the car got there.
And then called again around 5:30 to inform us what was wrong and when they expected it to be ready to pick up.

It's so nice to hear about dealers that take care of their customers.
Great story, and a happen ending.

And its back under the carport, they called me at 1:30 and said it was ready to pick up.
I just need to reprogram the bluetooth phone. I'm so happy.
Yea and this dealership definately exceeded expectations. I'm impressed

Not to be a jerk, but did you actually READ the thread before posting?

Please try to post your threads in the correct thread section. It's getting old moving all the stuff from the "general discussion" when this was service related. I've moved it to the proper sections
