The .45 caliber round makes a pretty big hole, I can just imagine how the conversation went:

"Hey honey..... Check out my new .45, it has a really great trigger pull, nice squeeze ...............Bang!!!!............__Oh CRAP..........._
_Honey......... I need another Budweiser__Man that hurts........_ "

Off to Wal-Mart for some new shoes...

and a book called.....

"HANDGUNS FOR DUMMIES"

Having fired one, I can agree, they ain't small rounds.

At least he didn't blow his whole toe off!

I saw a Lieutenant pull off the same trick with his M4 carbine in Iraq. The big difference was that the .223 cleared his toes and left him unharmed--but possibly in need of new underwear.

I think the key word there is "Lieutenant"...

Then the E-7 smacks the Lieutenant in the back of the head for being stupid and everyone moves on.

Then the E-7 goes to jail for striking an officer.

^Not hardly...especially one who can't figure out his ass from a hole in his boot. That officer is GONE from command.

He can lead YOU if you're so hard up for an idiot. If someone is stupid enough to put a bullet through his foot, he does deserve a smack...and to be relieved of command for utter and absolute stupidity and lack of safety around himself and his soldiers.

I'd be the first to sign a sworn statement against whoever did something like that...regardless of rank.

An NCO assaulting an officer for any reason is against the UCMJ. Article 90, go look it up.

Talk big all you want, but some of us know the truth having been both an NCO and an officer (as well as a commander).
