hey everyone, my 2002 Echo is closing in on a milestone...one million km
i
Currently the odo shows 962,143km and in approx 2 and a half months it will be a million. The engine is original and has never been opened but the trans and clutch were replaced at 450,000km. I wonder if this is the highest km Echo or Yaris out there? you can see my videos on youtube by searching 950,000km Echo. I brought it into my Toyota dealer to show them and they were blown away but they werent interested in using it as promo or advertising...i was hoping for an even trade on a new Yaris once i hit a million

That is freaking awesome ! I love people who take care of their ride !
With that km in 10 years, I will not wait a long time to see it hit 1 million ;)

Nice. Good job (to you and Toyota engineers)!
Maybe send Toyota Canada an email or letter direct? I suppose that's the best advertising possible; Million KM cars are so common they don't brag about them anymore ;)
Cheers.

canuckecho,
Great job! I love the Echo. Wish they still made that body style. I prefer it over the Yaris.

The Yaris was a regression from the ECHO in that it is heavier.
The engine should be smaller and the whole car lighter than the ECHO if we were making progress...
1,000,000 km awesome!

1,000,000 km / 10 years = 60,000 miles per year or 5000 miles a month or ~1250 miles a week or ~160 miles a day (on average)

Out of curiosity, what's the car look like with all those KM on it? Battle scarred? Crashes? Permanently dyed front end from bug guts (I've driven in Ontario ;) )?
Cheers.

Don't need synthetic if you change it every 2 weeks, even with that amount of miles.
Pic of the speedo when you hit 1.000.000!! Stop wherever you are!!

Actually ... I cannot imagine driving 15,000 km a month. I think I would be sick of driving after even a fraction of that.

My son just bought a 2002 Echo with 130,000km on it. Great testament for how long the car can last him if he takes care of it. Cool Stuff

It was a bad attempt at being funny ... but obviously no one here has a sense of humor. :help:

the funny thing is that when you roll over 999,999 it goes back to 000,000...
make sure you get toyota to send you their +1,000,000 sticker!

I put 250-280 miles a day on my 2010 Yaris I just bought. I only have like 40,000 miles on it, but I think I'm still under warranty... For now.
I do foreclosure inspections, and I do it in a city an hour away. So I drive ALL day long.7 to 7:30.
Hopefully, my Yaris won't let me down.
Not sure which generation it is though. The wikipedia section about Yaris' is horribly short and not very informative.
Amazing car, decent acceleration, my mpgs are 30+ even though I drive tons of city and 65-70 on highway.
I hope some day, I'll catch up to your mileage.

Long miles on a car aren't necessarily bad for an engine. There's more engine wear from cold start cycles then there is when it's all warmed up and running.
I once read that they took a new engine, started it up, and ran it for the equivalent of 50,000 miles without shutting it down, and when they did an engine teardown and miked the parts, there was no measurable wear.

Good on you, Canuck...
It's an admirable quality to take good care of things and make them last.
I own something similar, but it's not a car. It's the refrigerator my parents bought when I was born. We still use it as our only refrigerator, and it runs perfectly after more than 60 years.
