View Full Version : Yaris to be featured on Top Gear USA Season Finale

Ironically the Yaris was mentioned in the season premiere of Top Gear USA, and now will be a featured car in the "Monument to Moab" season finale on September 25th.

From the History Channels website:

"Do you really need an expensive 4x4 to go off road? The guys don't think so and to prove their point use three classic rental cars and attempt to complete and epic journey on some of the toughest terrain in the country from Monument Valley to Moab."

My daughters and I were watching our DVRed show from this week and they showed the teaser for the season finale. Here are some screen caps from it. Fortunately Rutledge will be the one driving the Yaris (as he seems to have an appreciation for small cars and Toyota's quality and dependability). The last two images from the teaser look a bit foreboding, but watching one of the other cars hang glide (unsuccessfully) off the same cliff, means that the Yaris probably survived that particular "challenge".

Exactly. I actually sent them a message after the Bayou show saying that they should have used Crashy for that one.

Rutledge is actually an active poster on The Car Lounge, and I'm going to PM him this thread and see what he has to say or if he can offer any insight. :biggrin:

Only when there is a Yaris on it, and even then it's usually quite painful...:barf:

Just watched this episode on my DVR. It was fun watching the Yaris's ruggedness and toughness that ended up surprising the guys after they'd been poking fun at it all episode.

Anyone who missed it needs to watch it On Demand.

It's a great show. I now like it just as much as the UK show. Don't judge it if you've only watched less than a few episodes.

Remember, TG UK sucked when it first started. The guys had no chemistry and now look at 'em.
