Sent the Yaris off to the mechanic to do the swap(low mileage 1nz) in preparation for the turbo. It's getting a Mishimoto rad and whatever random header Jeff had lying around. The header is just for fun until I get the turbo in.

I got all excited (based on the thread title) that someone was going to document an actual 2zz-ge swap
:(

^ Made you look! ;)
BTW, there is NOTHING wrong with the ultra high mileage engine in there now...I just don't want the motor to be the weak link when I do the turbo, I'm trying to avoid potential downtime when it may be critical.
I'll likely build the old motor that comes out, if it's a worthy candidate...maybe I'll keep it as a backup, I dunno yet.

Unless it's cracked, it's a worthy candidate.

Mazilla has posted that when he bought the car, the previous owner had already done an engine swap. I don't remember if he posted what the exact mileage was when the previous owner swapped the engine, but I want to say somewhere in the 100k s....so still a very impressive run for the second engine!

That's about right, they estimated it to be in the 150K ballpark.
Fun fact, it's headed back to the mechanic that did the swap and maintained the car since new....it was a 120ish mile pull each way(san diego to glendale) but the price is right(300.00) and the guy knows the car like the back of his hand. It was a no brainer.
If anybody needs his number I can shoot it your way...their not the mechanics you'd use to rebuild a transmission or install a turbo, but if you need any major routine type work done to your Yaris the only way to get it done cheaper is to DIY. Their in Glendale, Verdugo offramp 2 fwy.
They quoted me 30.00 to install a header for crying out loud,I paid 25.00 to swap my radiator...if I lived closer I probably wouldn't lay a finger on this car for maintenance again.

Update:
I decided to track down a transmission so I had the mechanic hold until I got one to him, he got it(12k mile trans) two days ago.
I sent the clutch to Clutchmasters for a rebuild while it was out...100.00 later it's good as new. After 30K miles of really hard driving, there was nothing wrong with it.
I expect to have the car back in about a week or so.

I'm going to do the turbo down here, not sure who will tune it. These mechanics are good at OEM work(all day long), however a turbo install may be out of their realm.

^ I have some work coming up for them; a trans swap in an xB.
I might know a place or two closer to you.
