View Full Version : No sound from speakers

I have a 2007 Yaris Sedan, and there is no sound at all from the speakers. The stereo seems to be working, it will lock onto signals, but there's no sound from the speakers, not even static.

I checked all the fuses, but I couldn't find any blown fuses. The speakers have been nonfunctional for a couple months. I had the car in the dealership for some maintenance recently, and they quoted me $140 to check out the electrical system, and I balked at that, so I didn't get it fixed.

Any ideas of what could be wrong? I'm not good with car stuff, If I pulled the stereo out to get a look at it, I'd probably never get it back in again. $140 seems awfully high to look at it, but I suppose that's what I get for going to the dealership.

If you don't feel comfortable working on it I'd take it to a legit car audio shop rather than the dealership.

Is it a stock stereo? If so, is the car still under factory warranty (extended)? $140 just to look at it is not cool.

A stereo shop would get you into an inexpensive deck with kit and harness plus labor for right around that.

Stupid question but still: Are you sure it is not front/rear (fader) issue? Remember couple cases when people only had front speakers and "lost sound" due to careless adjustments.
