So I got a pretty rare find today, a Polish Vis 35 WWII era handgun. Problem is that someone spray painted it inside and out with automotive paint. Needless to say, the gun doesn't work and you can't even put it together. I got it for about 1/5 of what it's worth, so I'm not afraid to spend a little on supplies, but what would you guys recommend for stripping the paint off without damaging the steel underneath? I'm not sure if it's stainless or blued, but it looks to be stainless from what little of the metal I can see. The paint is definitely some sort of hardened enamel, my guess is automotive paint.

I use Easy-Off oven cleaner, this will not remove the original paint.
I have used this on vechicles with painted letters, graphics, etc.,
and it does not remove original paint.

After suggestions from another guy I soaked it in Pine Sol overnight. The paint peeled off mostly in one big sheet :) What little of the blueing is left was unharmed.
