Question here! Will a 2008 TRD quick shifter work on 2009???? I really want to know because my friend is giving me his and I have an 09.
Also, what difference will it make aside the fact that it will increase the throw about 30%.
Thank you

It should work on an '09 with no problem.
And it'll decrease the throw by about 30%, not increase. You'll also notice that shifts are shifts are a little more crisp and there's a little less play in the shifter.
I have the MicroImage short shifter which is the same as the TRD... I'm sure you'll like it!

At the beginning it may be a little harder, but after a breaking period it becomes smooth and one of the best upgrades you can do to your car. Don't forget to use some grease any way. It helps on the long way.

There's a little more resistance getting into all gears, but I didn't notice that any one gear was harder to get into versus the rest.
I would strongly recommend getting the relocation bracket though. it takes some of the strain off of the cable and thus takes out some of the weird feeling you get from the short shifter.
I didn't like the height of my shifter so I got a 3" extender for it. The short shifter puts the throw pretty much back to where it was stock. I really like it.

I was under the impression that the TRD kit came with the bracket... but if it doesn't, I'd agree, get the bracket. When I took a quick drive around without the bracket it to see the difference that the short shifter made, I didn't like it, as if felt like something was off. After I put in the bracket, it was a lot better!
sorry, I was thinking of garms as he sells his separately but definitely put on both pieces.
the bracket can be a pain but it is definitely worth it.

I'm not sure if the TRD one has both pieces, but I went the MI route and got both. It was worth it!
Long story short, OP, get the bracket!

Also, I have a question about the bracket. Does the TRD one come with the bracket?
Here is the DIY that jpmck03 did a while back. it is an awesome DIY. I wish I had it before I did mine.

I am not familiar with the TRD kit but here is the the Micro Image one. You can see the bracket beside the short shifter. The bracket is the big flat thing (I know, Captain Obvious)

I have Micro Image's SSK, and I don't have the bracket and after 85K miles is sweet and running strong!
