Hi,

I'm trying to fit my 08 Yaris 5 door liftback with a snowboard rack. The OEM snowboard/ski fits a max of 2 snowboards I believe? I want to be able to carry at least 3-4. Would the stock OEM roof rack work well with a universal Thule/Yakima Snowboard carrier? Or is it would you suggest to get the full set up with either Thule/Yakima?

Any suggestions would be helpful. Not looking to spend too much money, as I may get a new car in a year or 2.

Thanks!

Ron

Go to a Thule/Yakima dealer and find out if they'll fit.

I've got a SportRack (Thule) ski/snowboard only setup, but it would only fit 2 boards.

Nice!

I was thinking the OEM roof rack might be a tad to low to add a universal ski/board rack carrier. I guess I'll find out if it will, as soon as I get one.

If anyone is wondering? The Thule flat 4 snowboard carrier fits right into the slider of the OEM rack rails! I just ordered the flat 6 board carrier, will see if it also fits nicely. If it doesn't fit right, as the oem roof rails are arched, it will go on our SUV. Will post some pics later of the OEM rails and the Thule flat 4 attached.

Thought I would drop a note here for prosperity. I've got an '08 with the factory racks, and have the Thule universal flat top setup. Works just fine with the boards bottom to bottom, two wide. Plenty of room between the Thule rack and the roof for the bindings.

Also, and this has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, but being a manual hatchback, best feeling in the world (one of, anyway): On the way up to the mountain, cruising slowly past SUVs driven by dumbasses as they slide sideways into the ditch, spinning their tires the whole way down :P The only time I've ever been stuck in the snow in my Yaris is when the hard-pack reaches the underpinnings and I get high-centered. Love this car.
