Hello,

I have a 08 HB 3Dr and had a question on the door opening, either passenger or driver.
Now, most other cars I've been in, or my other Toyota (FJ) have a "halfway" stop point and then a fully extended one. Is this true on the Yaris or am I missing anything? It just seems to fully extend and I don't want to hit/ding cars next to me. (Is there a part shared from another Toyota that I can add?)
Thanks in advance!

The check strap (black flat metal piece in door jamb about midway) has two points on it. Half and full open. You can make sure its not loose by snugging up (not overtightening) the two bolts on the body side of it. Should be 10 mm bolts. I can tell you the length of the doors on the 3door hatch are longer than a sedan or 5door so you justhave to be careful as their travel to half open is farther than the others.

On my 09 Yaris these visible parts are OK but driver's door opens all the way without stoping. So I think something is broken inside the door. Can anybody tell what parts are broken so I can buy them before disassembling the door? Or it is something that could be fixed without new parts.
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing after looking at this thread, as I keep whacking the door of my three door into things, as it opens a heck of a lot further than my 5 door does. I just took a close look and if you look at the bar, there is an arced area in the middle, which provides the first stop. If you open the door quickly you don't notice it, but if you open the door slowly the door stops nicely at that point.
