So im having a few issues with my yaris that ive discussed with my dealership service dept already... Most of my things will be dealt with when i take it in on monday but i did have the mechanic guy at the dealership tell me that the "tick tick" noise EVERYTIME i hit the brakes is normal. He said that i have floating disc brakes that trigger some kind of switch when you push them and thats what is making the noise.. My car didnt do this the first week i had it and neither did the one i test drove. He said he would lube everything up for me but that wears away when it rains and it would continue to make the tick tick .... Does everyone elses brakes do that? Im being told that its normal and ive never heard of a brand new car having any kind of normal noises like that:help:

No, but they check my back brake drums, and they said it 75% worn, front25%. i only got 20,000 miles on my car, sometime i really can't trust them dealership.

make sure the metal plate that goes behind the rotor is not touching the rotor, it happened to me once and i just pushed the plate back and problem solved!

Because of that issue did you hear a tick tick noise?

I don't have any brake noises and i don't believe it's normal. Get a second opinion.

Im scared!! I dont know how to tell the dealership service guy that that is an unacceptable answer that "it's supposed to do that". Its brand new so its under warranty, the technically have to fix it. I dont wanna void my warranty by going to see my normal mechanic dude but on the other hand without even looking at my brakes the people who are supposed to fix my car are telling me the noise is normal. Help

Well, why don't you go to your dealership, with your mechanic and have him tell your dealer that it is not normal or supposed to do that...

2 cents...

I got 8k on mine and NEVER heard once a single noise coming from any braking. You already got about 6 people give you a second opinion who have not heard this "ticking" sound. Your the CUSTOMER. Suggestion.....speak to your salesperson who sold you the vehicle and explain what has been going on and that you have already spoken to other owners etc. and see what he can do to have them inspected (again!)/repaired/replaced. I don't understand WHY the mechanic would "lube" everything up IF the noise is normal as he claims??? Sounds to me like excuses already (from what your stating). The "floating disc brake" thing I don't understand either. MAYBE he meant floating pads?? If so, not on a new vehicle especially if it was not doing it on a test vehicle and when you drove yours the first week or so. Have some balls and a positive attitude and confront your salesperson and go from there....just keep taking NO for an answer till they give in. Don't forget..You're the Customer! Good luck.

sounds like air in the lines, my 2 cents

brakes make noises (ticks, clicks) when in reverse
but thats normal, they are made to self adjust in reverse
when you apply the brake, also ABS if it senses the
wheel is about to lock up, it will release pressure

Refuse to leave untill they find the problem, if they insist it is normal then have them take you out in a new one from the lot, and when that one does not make noise bitch up a storm... and/or go to another Toyota dealership and tell them what happened at the other dealership

I have no noise either.... as they all said a 2nd or 3rd opinion would be great. I have a kind of metal sound under the car, I tought it was the gas tank cover since its broken but it wasn't. I took it to the dealership and they told the same BS that it was the gas tank cover.... they order it but... the sound is stil there... but I just got them to order a new gas tank cover (warranty) and when it arrives they are gonna have to find the source of the noise and also install my new gas tank cover doble work for them.

Well, I don't think he has been driving in reverse for the first week or drove a new car in reverse when he took one out on a test. IF the ABS is sensing a "wheel lock up" as you say (I'm not saying it does or doesn't, because I don't know) then wouldn't that mean there is a problem? He didn't say anything about making any quick stops. Just from what I read.....he test drove a new car; drove his new car for a week and didn't hear anything on either car. Now we got a noise. Hey, maybe it's nothing and maybe it is. Why would the mechanic want to lube this shit up if he stated it's normal? That's like saying to a mechanic, hey my car runs rough. And he says, that's how it should run, it's normal and it's fine, no problem at all. But hey, let me adjust your carb..
Talk to Your salesperson, and also like another person said here, try another Yaris off of the lot/ have someone go with you in yours.
All the above is either a suggestion/s or my opinion/s.
Again, good luck!

There was totally nothing wrong with your (or ANYONE elses) posting of a possible answer to his (any) post. I ONLY was quoting you (instead, it quoted your entire post) mentioning about the reverse part where as this was not mentioned at all in his post about the brake noises while driving in reverse. Just didn't think his entire post was read thouroughly, that's all. Nothing against you!
Ok? :w00t:

Thanks for all your guys' input... I think im gonna try another dealership beacuse im getting the same kinds of responses to my car issues. I actually left it with them for a day, they claimed it was fixed and it came back the same way it was when i left it!! I got a very persistent tick tick in the brakes pretty much EVERY time i use them and i got some kind of spring sounding noise evertime i turn the car on and put it in gear and then hit the gas. It only happens that one time(the initial press of the gas) and they straight up told me they dont know what that noise is. Then they said they fixed it and they didnt and now im even more freaked out now that they really dont know what their doing. I have like 550 miles on my car, ive only owned it 3 weeks and i have these 2 issues that seem to be "unfixable". Does everyone else agree i should try another dealership or are they gonna blow me off since i didnt buy the car from them? i keep goin back to the one i bought it from

I don't know, I'm kind of stuck on this post...I don't know why. You didn't mention if you already did any of the suggestions that other people stated on here. Now your asking for suggestion...again? Now your getting spring sounding noises everytime you start the car, put it in gear, hit the gas     ? But they don't know what the noise is, but they say it's now fixed??
Nothing against you, but WTF?! Who's the Customer, you or them?! You made a big step in purchasing a car. I'm sure you can decide what to do on your own at this point. If you can't, then just burn the fucking thing.

So even though i thought your guys' last post was kinda rude, i'll respond one more time to set the record straight... The springy noise was the noise that i first noticed(like 2 days after i bought it). I took it to the dealership to have it looked at and they told me after 3 hours of waiting that they didnt know what it was and that it would have to get worse in order to find the problem. So i took it home and got all overstressed about it and took it back a couple days later to be looked at again. Oh, and pretty much on the ride home from the service place the first time is when i noticed the brakes noise. So now i had two issues to discuss when i brought it back the 2nd time. The mechanic rode with me that time who said he heard the "springy noise" and thought he knew what it was but that the brake noise was "normal". So he said bring it back on monday(this was a thursday) and leave it so he could isolate the noise and fix it. Well, they called the next day to say they were confident that it was fixed but when i picked it up it had the same two noises occuring and it was all late and everyone except the guy who pulls your car around was gone home so i had to call the next day to tell them it wasnt fixed. I saw on the work order that all he did was grease my axle. I dont know how he thought that was gonna solve the noise...So, the next day, they left me a message telling me to bring it back but that i should wait since the guy who has been working with my car was on vacation and that it should be scheduled when he gets... WTF!!!!!! I dont want my car taken all apart by this guy who obviously doesnt know what the noise is trying to find it. I want some kind of specialty tech to come in and figure it out, not by tinkering with everything and making more problems. So i have now spoken with the customer relations guy at the dealership who is pretty much on my side and agrees that the others jerks ive been dealing with are BSing me and he wants to presonally take care of my issues... We'll see, i take it in on monday to meet the guy, take him for a ride and to leave it to supposedly get fixed... Ive had the worst first brand new car experience so far and either this car gets fixed prefectly or im gonna have to go through the lemon law steps to get a replacement. Apparently this crap is manufacturer defects and i deserve better from a brand new car!!! So there. A whole page of me whining and crying about my car. Wish mine was perfect like yours...
