Does anyone notice how similar these are to the cheapies floating around Ebay right now? In the second picture you can see that inch-or-so-wide black band towards the rear of the light... it has more LED's than the cheapies, but still... if these end up being a fortune, you could probably buy the cheap set on Ebay, buy two of those flexible LED strips from, say, Oznium.com, and smoke them yourself. Bam... $180 LED smoked tails.

We'll see how much John can grab these for.

Wouldn't work. You need running lights that get brighter when you hit the brakes. The easiest way to do that would be to use one of the numerous LED lights that you see on tractor trailers nowadays. Take your stock tails apart, mount the trailer light in there and wire to a stock light bulb base for easy plug in. Or you could get some Lumined LEDs & resistors and solder up your own.

damn, where I live smoked tail lights like that are illigal. you can get away with a very light tint on the brake lights, but if you tint reverse lights or relfectors (especially that dark) the po po will bust you.

they do loook hot though.

I'm willing to go for the eBay tails and do the LED swap... I'm sure there's gotta be an easier way to do this than Chino's LED strip idea, though...

I tried looking at the hidplanet.com forums, but there's waaaay too much info there and I don't know where to begin searching...

Does anyone know where to get rear LED tail light bulbs that look like the above pic? Also, I'd love to know about the best way to tint these lights... I might actually go the whole 9 and smoke 'em from the inside...
