I searched the forum and couldn't find anything about this but please reply with a link if there is one. Also, sorry if this isn't in the right place.

Because of the gas shortage, I've been car pooling. Any slightly larger person has, in my opinion, too difficult a time getting into the backseat. My geo metro and vw fastback were way roomier in this context. Forgive the stupid question, but is there something I'm neglecting to do here? I'm manually sliding the seat forward but that doesn't help much. Also, shouldn't the seats automatically slide forward when the lever is pulled to flip them forward? It's not a huge deal but I feel like it makes bulkier passengers feel totally rotund, and also there's a lot more scuffing of the materials on the inside of the car as they very awkwardly squeeze themselves in. There's also the awkwardness of my having to forcefully shove their asses in the car with both hands on deck. Once there, they say there's lots of room. I'm not talking about hugely obese people, just slightly larger. Any tips, or is this just something to live with?

Use the passenger side - slide the seat full forward and flip the seat back forward as well.

What Altitude said. I can't even get my purse out of the backseat if I try to reach in from the driver's side. I think the way the car is designed is entering/exiting only from the passenger side.

Thank you both! What a difference.
