No middle armrest buzzer

Anyone use the passenger side seat, as a lean in, only to have the car buzz at you that the front passenger airbag has been turned off. That seat is sensitive, I tell you. Very impressive those engineers at Toyota.

Any ideas to provide support in the absence of an armrest without setting off any buzzers?

so you want a center armrest on you LB?
I think that thing mounts on the floor so, it shouldnt activate the seatbelt buzzer... in a case that it beeps, simply strap the passenger seat belt on or if you think it looks dorky... just disable the buzzer, you could also get a seatbelt buckle to shut it off...
there should be a DIY about buzzer disabling somewhere in this forum...

I have to buckle the seatbelt when my dog comes along.:rolleyes: Why don't you just get an arm rest? Also, someone on here wired in switches to bypass the seatbelt alarm for both driver and passenger.

I'm very confused by this concept...I keep trying to work out the logistics of using the pasanger seat, either to reas my arm or to support myself during a turn (what I assume is meant by "lean in" above) but I can't figure it out. I mean, I suppose I might be able to do it, but it hardly seems the most obvious and natural body position...

Yeah, I get that. But it still seems awkward. In order to put enough weight on my hand to trigger the airbag sensor, I'd have to be leaning over pretty far, I think...

I use my pass seat as support all the time.... I fuckin hate that chime.... even some times when I come home from the grocery with a few things and set it on the seat it yells at me....

So in turns you use the passenger seat to steady yourself,....?, Ive never heard of this in my life...

I had the arm rest in... took it out after nearly a year now... got sick of it... theres more up front space now that i have it gone, like it better... plus the fabrick never matched the seats anyways :frown:

I too will often find myself pressing my arm/elbo against the passenger seat for support too.

Its not rocket science... it just seems to work in the yaris. happened naturally. though im not setting off the seat buzzer...

Whatevers comfortable thats cool :thumbsup: Myself I just usually put my extra hand in my lap, or on my leg, or the door side arm rest...but not the passenger door arm rest, LOL !

No, LOL I was just joking...! The OP means just resting his hand on the seat...Seriously his passenger seat pressure sensor must be pretty sensitive...I thought they would be set to around 50-60 pounds or something...

They are supposed to be set around that (i believe.)

i know ive seen what the weight threshold was, but i cant remember for sure right now, and forget where i read it.

(and having lost my owners manual many moons ago, and being that I'm still waiting on my dealership for the new Yaris Hatch ones to come in (on back back back order it seems!), means i cant verify it in the manual. im sure its stated there.

The seat belt warning is set a 20lbs, the airbag will not activate unless 40 or more pounds are in the seat.

i drive with my left hand and i use my right hand to balance when i turn. i just put my hand on the edge of the passenger seat near me (not on the headrest silly people!) it DOES set of the friggin seat belt/airbag sensor. it drives me CRAZY! the only thing to do is keep the passenger seat belt buckled. most of the time its just me in the car and its not a problem. i feel your pain, Fazali!
