hey guys,

just got my 07 yaris today. Im already looking to change the audio system. just wondering what size the speakers are for the yaris hatch. all help is greatly appreciated.

i was thinking.

1 x pioneer DEH-P8850MP
2 x alpine SPR 57LS (FRONT)
2 x alpine SPR 57LP (REAR)
1 x alpine SWR 1042D (10") Type R sub
1 x alpine MRP-F450 Vpower amp (4ch)

what do you guys think for a yaris? suggestions please =)

cheers!

Okay, there's a sticky that will tell you what size speakers you have. Regardless, For the same price, maybe a little more, take a look at the X series Alpine. Speakers are better than the R's and the passives are hands down THE BEST in it's price range.

Is that 1024D a little much for the amplifier? or are you just using the "power" from the stereo to power the speakers?

thanks for that. but the X series are a little pricey. And sound quality i find is almost the same (personal preference).

i was thinking of just running the rears off the head unit and amping up the woofer and fronts. what do you think? works?

any other suggestions on speaker brands? because i've already pimped up my brothers ride with almost exactly the same setup as i want for the yaris. but with a few other additions =) .. i already had a full pioneer setup on my previous honda. so yeah..

cheers

dust do it right and get a 4 channel and a 2 channel run your mids with your highs on crossovers then your sub on the over amp... that will give you the clearest sound

im willing to lose some SQ with just the one amp. but will it really be worse off?

then just run all your highs/mids off your head unit, and only run the sub off the amp

What you want are 6.5" all around, not the 5x7"s. Also I would look into a more conventional 4 channel + a mono sub amp or a 5 channel. I think you could easily find a decent 4 channel and mono sub amp for maybe just a few more bux. Seems your like me you are looking for good, not great. Just do a realyl good install and you should be fine. As a few of these guys will tell you, it's all about the install. Install to be balanced and noise free. I'll let the pro's chime in with better thoughts.

Running the front speakers and sub off a 4-channel would sound great. See, rear-speakers aren't important, so you can run them off the deck, but faded quiet so that you can hardly hear them.

jdubau55 : yeah i want to put in 6.5" but im not sure if they will in such a small car. do you know the stock speaker sizes in it? i havnt had the chance to open it up yet. and yeah my brother will do the install, thats no problems!

earljail: exactly what i'l be doing. running the fronts and sub off the 4ch and have the rears running off the head unit.

No. Running a 4ch amp in 2+1 config is just fine, and you wont be losing any SQ, period.

Nothing in the Yaris ATM - only had it for 4 weeks now, and I'm still postulating over various designs. I can say that it will include a set of 6.5" components in the front, a single 4-channel amplifier, but as yet unknown subwoofers.. The rears may remain stock, or may be changed, but they will certainly not be amplified given their close proximity to my ears.

Will post about it all here when I've got something to take pictures of :)

The 6.5" will fit up front without much hassle. The rears are the same you will just have to make a spacer bracket. The rear for the hatch are 5.25" stock. I would reccomend moving up to 6.5 all around.

jdubau55: can i just purchase a spacer bracket? i dont want to do anything myself. no time. so 5.25 are stocks for sure.

Yes, check Crutchfield for speaker brackets. I believe they are about 15 bux. Take a little time and do it yourself. You'll save prolly close to 40-60 bux depending on where you get them installed. Thats money that can be going towards better speakers or an amp.

What did you do to fit the speakers in the front door? I bought the Alpine SPX-17REF thinking it would fit alright, but I see someone mention it is only 2" of space to the window... They are 2 3/4" deep.... What kind of spacer do I need?
